The images in this review are from Flashlightgo, and the images are being used with Flashlightgo’s permission.
I used a program called Topaz Gigapixel AI to improve the image quality.
I won this flashlight in a giveaway. When I entered the giveaway, I agreed to write a review. This review is going to be completely honest even though I did not pay for the flashlight.
What comes in the box?
There’s the JETBeam IIIM ULTRA, an 18650 cell, a clip, a lanyard, a holster, a charging cable, instructions, a warranty card, and an extra o-ring.
I’ll go over the flashlight (in detail) last.
The clip is pretty simple, and it comes off easily, which is fine with me because I don’t use flashlight clips.
The 18650 cell says its capacity is 3500mAh, which is great if true. The cell has a USB Type-C charging port. Don’t worry–the flashlight also accepts regular 18650 cells.
The lanyard looks quite nice.
The holster is excellent. I have a Convoy holster that is 60mm wide, and the JetBeam holster is way better than the Convoy holster.
The Convoy holster is too stiff, and it’s tough to clip it to my belt.
The JetBeam holster doesn’t have those problems.
If JetBeam sold a 60mm wide holster, I would probably buy one for my Convoy flashlight to replace my Convoy holster.
I’m not going to use the charging cable, and I don’t know how to judge it fairly, so I won’t comment on it.
The instructions seem to be just fine–the print is not too small for me.
The English in the instructions also seems to be just fine.
The warranty card says, “Limited lifetime. Free service within 5 year from purchase date.” If JetBeam honors that warranty, (I don’t know if they do) that’s a valuable extra.
In the instructions, is says, “Within 15 days of purchase, free replacement is provided by seller. JetBeam offers a 24 month free warranty service from date of purchase. Buyer will only be responsible for shipping costs of item. After 24 months, buyer is responsible for replacement parts as well as shipping costs.”
The extra o-ring is red, just like the o-ring in the flashlight. Not much to say about that, but it’s a nice extra to have.
The fit and finish of the flashlight is extremely nice.
It’s even better than Sofirn/Wurrkos/Convoy, which is what I’m used to.
The flashlight is very attractive, and the body is a nice shiny gunmetal dark gray.
There are no sharp edges anywhere.
The emitter in the flashlight is the XHP35 HD, and the reflector is orange peel.
I would have preferred the XHP35.2 HI with a smooth reflector for extra throw, but it’s a decent emitter choice.
The flashlight is mostly floody, but it does have some throw.
The tint is a nice neutral white.
The flashlight has what is called a “triple switch” but should really be called a double switch.
There’s the main button, and on both sides is a smaller button that is not visible.
Both of the smaller buttons do the exact same thing, though.
You can partially press the main button to have momentary on.
Press the main button completely to turn the flashlight on or off.
When on, press either of the smaller buttons to change modes from low to medium to high to low, etc.
If you quickly double click either of the smaller buttons, you get turbo.
Turbo is supposed to be 2000 lumens, and high is supposed to be 900 lumens, but with the included 18650, turbo is only slightly brighter than high.
It should appear to be 49% brighter, but it definitely does not.
Maybe with two CR123 cells turbo is brighter?
(I don’t use CR123 cells.)
I don’t like the smaller buttons for changing the mode, and accessing turbo is quite difficult for me.
The flashlight also has strobe and SOS.
Strobe is easy to access, and SOS is even tougher to access than turbo.
I never use disco modes, and avoiding disco modes is easy enough for me, so that’s a win in my book.
The flashlight does not tailstand.
Is it worth the price of admission?
Use "IIIM ULTRA” get 10% discount off.
Although the JETBeam IIIM ULTRA is very nice, it is also quite expensive.
If there is a rare feature that you have to have, and this flashlight provides that, then this flashlight might be a good choice.
If you want a five year warranty, this flashlight might be worth the money.
But if you’re generally happy with more budget offerings from Sofirn/Wurrkos/Convoy, I don’t think this flashlight is a good choice for you.
It doesn’t provide a lot of bang for your buck, and I don’t really like the smaller buttons (not visible) on the sides of the main button.
