I’m wary of this light after the Lumintop worm I bought a few years ago had the worst play in the threads of any light I’ve owned. Made me worry the head was going to unscrew and fall off while on my keychain.
I have one. This is just a twisty version of the tool AA. A Same driver, quite a bit shorter due to the twisty only body. Like a plump Lumintop worm. The threads were good, not loose. The pill is light aluminum as is the mcpcb. The stock LED was gross so I swapped in a 519A. The head is short and uses a wide flood optic. It’s decent but nothing spectacular.
Yes, I also swapped a 519A and also a 15° TIR in mine. Too big for a keychain light for me. Useful to keep an Eneloop or lithium primary in it for a small/light emergency light. I keep it in a small backpack for day hikes, because you never know if it might turn into a night hike (injury, etc)
I put a 15° in mine and estimate around 1000cd @ 250lm (519A 5000K). The stock TIR I’d estimate around 60° which is way too wide but I guess is fine for the intended keychain use.
I think twisty lights have somewhat fallen out of favor. I still like them for AAA/AA lights because of their small size (no extra space needed for a tail switch).
