Pros:

  • Good clip to attach to book / case

  • Flexible neck to adjust where you want your light to go

  • runs off just 1 AAA battery

  • 60 minute timer (turns off)

Cons:

  • PWM on the low modes

  • tint

  • high standby current

  • hard to open battery cover

  • clip does not go all the way onto anything but a few sheets of paper

  • did I mention the tint and PWM?

I saw this light a while ago at my local ocean state job lot, and for 3 dollars decided to go for one (or three). Compared to some of the book lights I have tried, this thing is a mile ahead of the rest. What caught my interest was the capacitive touch switch and the fact that it runs of 1 AAA battery. hold your finger for about half a second to turn it on, and then tap to cycle through the modes. Holding you finger down only acts like a tap.

I really like the 60 minute timer because for me, it is easy to lose track of time. It is also relatively accurate, give or take a minute or two. The tint is not very pleasing, being a very cold light, with a blue tinge, and maybe a little green mixed in. The PWM is also not so good, being easily visible unless on high. My eyes guess the modes at 10, 30, 99% (Close enough to full on to not be noticeable unless you wave it extremely fast.) The neck of the light bends well enough, and stays where you put it. There seems to be a number of different models / revisions.
