I received the Nitecore EDC25 from Nitecore for the Review

The EDC25 is a compact, lightweight, EDC flashlight. It features 2 UHi 20 LEDs, for a max output of 3000 lumens, and 2 electronic switches. The EDC25 is powered by a 1700mAh lipo battery, USB-C rechargeable, and features a battery and output indicator.

The light comes in this box.

The EDC25 is compact, measuring 136 mm in length, and 31 mm in thickness, weighting in at 104 grams.

The form factory of the EDC25 is rectangular, more suitable for carrying around and holding in the hand, thanks also to the presence of several milled areas to improve the grip.

At a first sight, it surely recalls the EDC27 that I previously reviewed.
Although the design is different, there are quite some practical differences:

  • The OLED display has been replaced with a battery and output indicator

  • The locking/unlocking procedure has been engraved on the back of the light

  • There’s a locking indicator near the switches

  • There’s a light sensor at the head to prevent the light to turn at high brightness when in proximity of an item, avoiding potential cooking of the light and melting of the object

My thoughts
The light is well built and finished.

I really like all the changes made to the light, likely due to users’ feedback:

  • The OLED display: I always liked it on my EDC27, however it took a long time to give you all the informations (output, runtime, battery voltage etc); here the indicators are more robust and provide a more clear indication of output and an estimation of the battery power left.

  • The locking/unlocking procedure is not easy to memorize if you don’t use the EDC25 often (or you have my limited memory lifespan), and having it engraved on the back is a nice addition.

  • The light sensor will avoid messes in your pocket or in your bag.
    Regarding the UHi LEDs, I like that they provide a more focused beam with some real throw, as you can see from the beamshots, however, at least on my sample, the tint is not great especially at the lowest levels, with a bit of green/yellow.






I wish the light came with a neutral tint.
Overall I like this light, and has replaced the EDC27 for ease of use in my EDC work bag.
