Nice review. Fenix has to be my favorite brand.

Thank you! Fenix is definitely my all-time favorite brand to own and carry.

The Fenix TK20R UE does not appear to have low voltage protection built into the torch.

The battery appears to have low voltage protection. And the torch does give visual low voltage warnings. But I wouldn’t recommend using an unprotected battery.

I tested low voltage protection by connecting the head and tail of the torch to a bench power supply and then by lowering the voltage from 4.20V to 2.0V. Bypassing the tail resulted in the torch entering Turbo so I put the bench power supply between the head and tail with heaps of wires.

The LED turned off at 2.53V but the current remained at 0.15A. As I decreased the voltage, the LED came back on, started flickering, struggled to remain on, and switched off again. The current remained at around 0.1A.

Here are some measurements of the current for each mode while connected to a bench power supply:

Mode Amps at start
Low 0.09 A
Med 0.68 A
High 1.34 A
Turbo 2.87 A

This is just a quick test of dad’s torch. Build quality looks great.
