Great review. I reviewed the Aurora A8 earlier this year and concur with your conclusions.
RovyVon finally saw the merit for increasing size to accommodate a larger battery, in the newer A2x series. In fact, the A29 has a body that can be opened for access to do a battery replacement when needed (although it is a proprietary type).
Having used my Aurora A8 for the past year, I can say that I enjoy the light, but two things bothered me:
1) It’s too small! I don’t put it on a key chain, because of the polycarbonate key ring loop—bad stress point. I have it on a clip, but it’s so small that it won’t affix to a cap brim. I have lost it several times by it simply slipping out of my pocket (and in between car seats).
2) The PWM is always noticeable to me in low modes. It’s not bad at high levels, though. The only saving grace is that by being a “momentary use” light, it’s not a big deal. But in this age where most manufactures avoid PWM at this price point, it has been a disappointment. Supposedly this has been addressed in the new version, but I’ve yet to see a review for it.
