Review: TrustFire X6 SST-90

By the driver being 'defective' I take it you mean that the driver supplies less power to the emitter than it could do - not that the driver is busted - yes?

Cheers

I understand from reading several reviews of this light that it's a quailty build, but suffers in output. I recon someone could make a few dollars selling modded versions of these kicking out around 8-10 amps. I'd be in.

The SkyRay KING has it’s baby brothers (“QUEEN”), and it looks that the TrustFire X6 also has one too: www.dealextreme.com/p/prairie-fire-d9-xp-l-t6-white-led-5-mode-800lm-glass-lens-flashlight-2x18650-126167

The dimensions on this ‘baby brother’ seem to be promising (if true). It says the head diameter is 65mm, so it’s safe to say the reflector is above 58mm. If someone can buy this and test the current to the emitter then it’d be great. Based off the reflector size alone it looks like a solid contender to the STL V2/V6.

The X6 is a better accessory with the black and grey cat! Nice pics FX-32!

I found this on Alibaba, which like like a clone of the X6. The seller posted is contact info here if anyone is interested. It looks like he is open to one piece buys if you are OK with the shipping…

Im curious to the mods you did with your driver on your X6, you have any info on exactly the resistors and where you placed them in to gain output ?
i would like to try simmilar mods to one of my X6’s.

you either have a small cat or a bloody big flashlight  nice light but the Strobe - SOS rubbish puts me off forking over hard earned for it. thanks for the review and the cat pictures

Good review, I’ll order soon this light, when I have some $$$ :_(

I know this is a bit of a dead-thread revival, but I thought it was better than starting a new thread.

Does the driver efficiency go up when adding the resistors to increase amperage? That is, is the driver clamped down and energy is being deliberately wasted to heat, or are the components simply sub-par?
