[Review] Tunenge S15 Keychain Flashlight gives RovyVon a run for their money

The images in this review (except for the third one) are from Tunenge’s Amazon listing, and the images are being used with Tunenge’s permission.

I used a program called Topaz Gigapixel AI to improve the image quality.

I received this keychain flashlight yesterday.

I think Tunenge is a company that not many BLF members have heard of.
They have three keychain flashlights on Amazon, with the oldest one released in 2022.
They have flashlights on their website (https://www.tunengelight.com/), but strangely enough the Tunenge S15 isn’t on their website.
On their website, they say that they have 15 years experience, and they have some information about flashlights that they have designed in the last 10 years.

The image above is of the Tunenge S15 next to a RovyVon Aurora A23.
(I gave my RovyVon Aurora A3 to my sister, and she cannot find it.)
The gray plastic on top of the RovyVon Aurora A23 is the charging port cover, which I left ajar for some unknown reason.
The Tunenge S15 is 2.36 inches * 0.63 inches.
The RovyVon Aurora A3 (not pictured) is 2.1 inches * 0.6 inches, so the Tunenge S15 is just a bit bigger than the RovyVon Aurora A3.

I really like the Tunenge S15.
(I prefer keychain flashlights with aluminum bodies.)
If you want something larger, the RovyVon Aurora A23 is quite nice.

The Tunenge S15 has a Luminous SST20 emitter.
The manual says that the tint is cool white (6500K).
This is not true.
The tint is neutral white.
It’s about 4000K.
Luckily for me, I like neutral white more than cool white, though I prefer warm white the most.

Here are the brightnesses according to the manual:
2 lumens Moonlight, 35 lumens Low, 350 lumens Medium, 500 lumens High, 650 lumens Turbo.
The mode spacing is not perfect.
The jump from 35 lumens Low to 350 lumens Medium is too large.
Other than that, the modes are fine.
The light doesn’t get hot quickly on Turbo, which is nice.

When the flashlight is off, press the button for momentary on.
The flashlight will be on turbo for as long as you hold down the button, unless it happens to step down (I’m not sure if that happens or not. The manual doesn’t say anything about stepping down.)

When the flashlight is off, double click quickly to turn it on.
Then each short press of the button goes to the next mode.
Moonlight to Low to Medium to High, back to Low, and so on.
(Turbo is only available via momentary on.)
Do a long press to turn the flashlight off.
There are no Strobe and SOS modes, despite what the Amazon listing says.
I don’t like disco modes, so that’s perfectly fine with me.

The light has memory, and it works perfectly.

I had the light on Turbo for 2 minutes, and it did not get too hot.
Then I tried High for 5 minutes, and again it did not get too hot.

The user manual is in English only.
The English is well written and easy to read.
Usually flashlight user manuals are not written very well.
Considering Tunenge is a Chinese company, their English is top notch.

The flashlight comes with a few accessories. It has a clip that is not attached.
Because I don’t like clips for flashlights, I’ll leave it unattached.
The light also comes with an a stainless steel keyring, a USB charging cable, and a user manual.

By the way, it’s very easy to charge the light with the keyring attached.
Also it’s easy to remove the charging port cover, and the flashlight uses a USB Type C charging cable.
(With the RovyVon A23, it’s difficult to charge the light with the keyring attached, and it’s also tough to remove the charging port cover.)

The fit and finish of the Tunenge S15 are great.
There are no sharp edges anywhere, and the ergonomics are nice and simple.
Because you have to double click to turn the light on for good, it probably won’t accidentally turn on in my pocket.
I mean, it may accidentally turn on momentarily, but it probably won’t accidentally stay on for long.

Compared to the RovyVon A3, the Tunenge S15 has a better UI.
The A3 has strobe that isn’t hidden, and I don’t think the A3 has memory.
The Tunenge S15 doesn’t have disco modes, and it does have proper memory.
The Tunenge S15 is a bit larger than the RovyVon A3, and it’s cheaper.
I like the Tunenge S15 more than the RovyVon A3.
The Tunenge S15 is the best smaller keychain flashlight I have come across.

THE END

Nice light. Probably should be closer to $8 though.

In my opinion, it’s already better and cheaper than the RovyVon Aurora A3.
The only thing that I don’t like about this keychain flashlight is the mode spacing between Low and Medium, but I always use High, so that doesn’t affect me much.
I got mine for $9.99, but even at $17.99, I think it’s a great deal. :+1:

Hello, I want to get the blogger’s email, I have a reply to your message on Amazon

1 Thank

It’s a pleasure to know you, ming1!
I sent you a private message.

Any idea if it’s user serviceable as in possible to open it and replace the Li-Po battery?

1 Thank

Thanks for your review!

1 Thank

No, as far as I know, it’s not user serviceable.
Keychain flashlights of this size are rarely user serviceable. :slightly_smiling_face:

3 Thanks

That’s a shame! I’ve been looking for a small AL body clicky keychain flashlight the size of the rovyvon auroras with a removable battery but it’s like a non existing species :man_shrugging:t2: Only one that comes close is the Lumintop Frog…

Seems like the links to images in the review are no longer accessible due to the image server site being shut down?

Yep.
