Measured dimensions and weight
• Length: 157.2mm (6.19")
• Head Diameter: 40mm (1.57")
• Tube Diameter: 25.4mm (1")
• Tail Diameter: 27.2mm (1.07")
• Weight: 137g (4.83oz)
Levels of Output and Runtime
The Nitecore MH25 v2 has 5 normal levels (including Turbo and UltraLow) and 3 special stroboscopic level:
• High: 1300 lm (measured 1250 lm) – 3h
• Mid: 300 lm (measured 310 lm) – 8h30min
• Low: 50lm (measured 51 lm) – 50h
• Ultra-Low: 1 lm (measured 1 lm) – 1500h
• Strobo: 1300 lm (measured 1250 lm) – nd
• Beacon: 1300 lm (measured 1250 lm) – nd
• SOS: 1300 lm (measured 1250 lm) – nd
The data measured by me are to be considered peak (taken within 30 seconds of switching on and with the battery fully charged) and all proved to be superior to that declared by the manufacturer.
The runtime schemes of the "High" and "Mid" levels are shown below.
The body and the materials
The Nitecore MH25 v2 was born as a direct evolution of the well-known MH25GT. With a power of 1300 lumens and over 475 meters of range, it is a compact tactical flashlight that is also comfortable for everyday use. Of course it is not very small, the length is just over 15cm, and it is not the suitable flashlight to be carried comfortably in the jeans pocket, but as a tactic it is certainly perfect. It is comfortably held in every way, the switches are easily detectable in the dark and even when wearing thick gloves, High level and Strobo always ready if used in tactical mode while the Ultra-Low mode of only 1 lumen guarantees a theoretical runtime of 1500 hours !! !
The MH25 v2 is a well-built flashlight, the materials are of quality, the thicknesses are abundant, the slightly opaque anodizing offers a nice tactile feeling, the alternating knurling on the body always guarantees excellent grip.
The tail switch is mechanical, rubberized, with double stroke, particularly protruding and is used to turn the light on / off or to use the Momentary-On. The side switch is electronic and allows you to vary the outputs and access the special and stroboscopic levels. Below this is a status LED that provides information on the charging progress and the remaining capacity of the cell.
The MH25 v2 has two different operating modes: "Daily Mode" (set by default) which allows access to the four levels of brightness in an increasing manner (Ultra-Low, Low, Mid, High) and to the three special levels (Strobo , Beacon and SOS), while the "Tactical Mode" which has inverted output levels (High, Mid, Low, Ultra-Low) and loses the Beacon and SOS mode for faster access to the high level and the Strobo.
The optical part of the MH25 v2 is composed of an LED with an almost neutral tint, at least 5000K-5500K (finally !!!), a deep reflector in mirror-polished aluminum, and a lens with double anti-reflective treatment. The bezel is protruding and laced and effectively protects the lens.
The beam is composed of a very bright central part, a crown and a very large and comfortable spill to illuminate the walking surface in a decent way. Pointed the beam very closely (10-15cm) you can see in the center a small less bright ring that totally disappears over greater distances and is not visible during normal use.
The only part of the flashlight that can be unscrewed is the tailcap for the physical block of the interface or for accessing the battery compartment.
The tailcap is not flat, but with a little attention and a little balance, the flashlight can still be used in tailstanding. Two large holes allow you to attach laynard and small carabiners.
The deep and abundant dissipation fins near the head disperse the heat very well
The threads are anodized, arrive well lubricated and are very smooth.
At the tailcap there is a double golden spring, as well as at the positive pole.
On the opposite side of the switch is the Type-C charging port covered by a thick rubber cap. A small tab helps in opening.
Nitecore supplies a 5000mAh 21700 cell model NL2150. A full charge takes about 4 hours using a quality charger.
As an alternative to the 21700 it is possible, thanks to the help of the plastic adapter, to also use a 18650 cell or two CR123 cells.
The belt clip can be installed in both directions and in different positions. The grip is excellent both on the side of the flashlight and on the clothes. Thanks to the presence of two small holes it is also possible to install a wrist strap directly on the clip.
