Packaging
The packaging is very small and has the style known from other Wuben boxes. The technical specs are printed on the box.
A manual, a small USB-C cable and the necklace is included, which is only the case if “necklace bundle” is marked on the box.
The font in the instructions is extremely small, which can be quite difficult to read depending on your eyesight.
Design
The E2 is made out of semi-transparent plastic, which has a really nice looking glow-in-the-dark feature. The bezel is made of aluminum. The front lens is AR-coated.
There is a reflector with heavy texturing used, which should give a smooth beam.
Due to it’s design, tailstand is very difficult, and could be only possible on very flat surfaces (and without the necklace adaptor).
The very small button is surrounded by a ring that is clearly noticeable to the touch. It’s easy to operate with bare hands, but not so easy when wearing gloves.
Because it’s so small, the flashlight can only be held securely with the thumb, index finger, and ring finger (at least for my hand, the flashlight is as big as my entire thumb).
A small magnet is mounted at the back, and it is strong enough to hold the light on vertical metallic surfaces. The magnet is not usable if the necklace adaptor is used.
Battery and charging
There is a built-in battery with 120 mAh used. Due to the built-in battery replacing it could be difficult, especially with no prior experience in doing so.
The USB-C port is protected with a flexible cover. Since the cover is very close to the port, it sometimes gets in the way of the cable; furthermore, some USB cables with wide connectors might not fit into the port or could cause a loose connection.
In the discharge test (1 A in the Vapcell S4+ v2.0), mAh could be extracted from the battery.
The battery is charged with 0.1 A and 0.5 W.
While charging, a red light is on. After charging is finished, the light switches to blue.
The E2 cannot be used while charging, it just don’t turn on.
I was able to charge 125 mAh from fully empty into the light.
UI
The UI is very simple, but it does not follow well known de facto standards.
- 1C from off: turn on, mode memory
- 1H from off: battery charging indicator
- 1H from on: changing brightness (main: 3 levels, side: 2 levels+breathe)
- 2C/2H from on: change mode (main → side → blink)
There is no lockout available.
Unfortunately there is no direct access to lowest and highest mode. I would recommend for this type of light always starting in lowest mode and have direct access to turbo and some other changes:
1H from off: direct access to lowest (Moonlight)
2C from off/on: direct access to turbo (highest mode)
3C from on: change of channel/mode
3C from off: check battery status
In general some shortcuts from Anduril UI would be great to see here.
LED and spectra data
One emitter is installed as main LED in the E2. It has a CRI of 70.
According to Wuben, a domed “W3535” LED is used in the E2. According to the naming it could be an LED from Lumenpioneer, since they have several emitters starting with the name “W3535”, but this is pure speculation.
There are LEDs on the side. These are only called “customized COB”.
The bezel can be removed fairly quickly. The only thing to keep in mind here is that the reflector and front glass could fall out and get dirty.
After removing the bezel, you can access the LED.


There are no surprises for the spectrum of the low CRI cool white emitter. There is standard YAG:Ce3+ phosphor used. It seems that no YAG:Gd3+ is used for getting a more neutral CCT. The tint is on or slightly below BBL, so no complaints there.
The side emitters are quite a surprise though. Despite nothing mentioned on the packaging or the item description in the Wuben shop, the side LED have a really nice tint and light quality. With a CRI of almost 96 (!), R9 of 84 and a slightly negative duv on my sample the tint and quality is outstanding and is not the light quality you would expect from such a small and cheap light.
For the side LED a multi-phosphor composition is used together with a classic blue pump at around 450 nm, likely based on YAGG:Ce3+, YAG:Gd3+, SSN and likely SCASN.
It is really nice to see such a great light quality on such a small EDC/keychain light.
Measurements
There is PWM used, with a frequency of around 11.6 kHz. This should be high enough even for people sensitive to PWM/flickering. Interestingly, even on highest mode there is PWM used, likely to limit the LED max current to achieve higher runtimes.
Unfortunately there is PWM for the charging indicator LED, at 102 Hz, which is visible.

Low = 5 lm @ 8.5 lx
Mid = 44 lm @ 81 lx
High = 113 lm @ 216 lx
High (5 sec) = 140 lm @ 265 lx
Side LED:
Low = 9 lm @ 1.5 lx
High = 40 lm @ 7 lx
The light flux stated from Wuben was not reached.
Beamshots
The beam is floody. The E2 is only suitable for absolute close range, maybe up to 5-10 metres. For more throw a dedicated (bigger) light is needed.


Conclusion
I like the E2 Pulse, even though it’s performance is not as high. It is a very light, very compact light which could be used for a lot of situations. Whether as a small hanging light in a tent, a locator on a dog’s collar, as go-to light on your keychain or car keys, or a little light for your purse, you can’t really go wrong with the E2, especially considering the price at around 20 $.
The battery could be slightly bigger to increase the runtime, and a neutral white emitter with pleasant tint would be nice to see. Also the USB-C cover could be annoying sometimes, but most cables should fit fine.
