My review of the WUBEN L1 rotatable head flashlight with 2000 lumens thrower LED and NICHIA/OSRAM flooder!
Type-C, magnetic tail cap, dual switch, power bank, 4800mAh battery, solid UI…
The only trade off was the rotatable head with limited thermal path keeps the body cool but Turbo runtimes short.

On the Wuben L1 page at Wuben L1 Dual Light Sources Flashlight with 180° Rotating Head, 2000 Lumens , about 60% down, they say under the graphic “Intelligent Hybrid Circuit”:

Constant current circuit, stable control of light

but from the reviews I have seen so far, like Zeroair’s this is not the case and output seems completely unregulated, dropping with voltage for every emitter in every mode. Your runtimes end at 15 minutes which is too short and misses important insights.

If the light is indeed completely unregulated, it seems Wuben is falsely advertising this.

As others have mentioned, wish they used the SFT40 instead of SST40, and a floodier TIR for 519A. Some other things I did not like in mine:

  • SST40 very green, as expected
  • You can shortcut into low for SST40, but not 519A which is the mode I would be using most … this simple flaw limits the usefulness of this light for my purposes.

I really like the tint of the 519A though, its quite beautiful.

Agree, the SST40 on mine was more lilac than green. I do with the 519A had the direct to low too. I have gone from 10 mins to 15 mins for the Turbo test but it makes my reviews far too long to do if I go longer. Editing 4K HDR takes an unbelievable amount of time.

The rotating head mechanism takes its toll. No space for a good driver, quite low output due to bad driver and little mass. Still a huge light due to 21700 battery.

In addition, I imagine a 519A mule might have been better for flood than the flat optics.

No direct-to-moon is the final nail in the coffin.

I find the concept truly impressive. With a better driver and user interface, it could become the ideal flashlight/headlamp combo for my needs. Anduril might be the perfect fit for enhancing its capabilities. The Nichia 519A flooder seems like the clear and optimal choice for this flashlight.

And I also want RGB Aux LEDs
