Review: Wurkkos TS10 w 5500K LEDs and Red Aux

As far as comparison to the FWAA goes, while the TS10 certainly wins easily in terms of bang for your buck, it has some issues. The bug with the aux lights going on with the main LED is annoying and I’m not building a custom rig to reflash a $20 light. The TS10 pocket clip is horrible. I can deal with a non-captive clip on a small light but the little piece of metal underneath that should help guide the top part of the clip is too short and straight and it causes the clip to be a struggle to fully seat. It has already damaged one pocket and just won’t sit properly on several others. I personally prefer the lines of the FWAA but that’s very subjective and I certainly like the look of the TS10 as well. Anyway it’s well worth the price and I’ll buy another when the fix the firmware (aux issue) even if it still has the terrible clip. I just hope someone comes out with an aftermarket clip. I suppose a deep carry one is inevitable.

Here is an alternative clip

the aux lights being on when the main LEDs are on, is to me, a non-issue… the red light is barely visible, if at all, and the power they use is tiny. If anything its a benefit, that a bit more Red spectrum output is added to the main LEDs.

for those that are bothered by the red lights, the TS10 can be reflashed using the SP10 Pro pogo adapter sold by gchart, for just $10.

Funny you mentioned the E05c clip. My TS10 has been wearing that clip since day 1. Incidentally, it’s also the best deep-carry clip for the Sofirn SP10 Pro.

I also agree the aux lights being on are a non-issue. Them staying on during operation doesn’t affect the beam or runtime in any noticeable way.

The small Olight Baton II clips fit great on this light, if you like that clip. Comes up to the gap where bezel meets head, seems to fit the groove better and more snugly (and without the recurved tips), but it does leave a lot of air gap along the length. That E05c clip looks better, functionally, and deeper. The depth on the Olight clip is just a teeny bit more than the Wurkkos.

I think the aux lights staying on with the main beam certainly has to affect tint even though they aren’t focused into the optic openings like the main emitters are. I hadn’t thought about that when I ordered the ice blue…would be interesting to compare different aux color beams next to each other (or to measure them with a good measuring tool).

I’ll wait to order another in the warmer emitters until I see that they’ve configured the firmware correctly for the hardware. Small oops as they rushed this into production and the market. Great little light, though.

I highly doubt it has any effect on tint.

Probably far less than 1% of the total output is composed of light from the aux leds.

Since the aux leds are such a vanishingly tiny component of the beam pattern, they shouldn’t meaningfully affect the beam.

I doubt the usual sensors people on the forums use to check tint would even be able to register the difference between aux leds on or off. However, if someone has the appropriate sensors it would be VERY easy to check: No need to update the firmware… just measure with and without aux leds turned on.

finally succeeded in reflashing the TS10 to a version of Anduril 2 that turned off the Aux lights when the main LEDs are on. presumably they also have LVP now

details here:

Glad to hear of your successful reflash. Although my red/red sample has the inherent flaws of the original batch, I’m pretty satisfied with the light as is. It seems to be fairly efficient from a power consumption standpoint. I’ve left the aux lights on low since I first set it up, have used the light extensively in the last couple weeks, and still have better than 4V left on the Vapcell Gold 3A cell. It amazes me how much technology is packed into these lights for so little money. Some day I might get more adventurous with the modding options, but the stock offerings are so enjoyable for me I just can’t find reason…yet.

Thank You.
I agree the TS10 are great little lights, and I was happy with it even before the reflash.

The reflash did 3 things, that make the light even better, for me:

  1. added LVP to the Aux lights
  2. turns off Aux when main LEDs are on
  3. The lowest level is now 0.02 instead of 0.2

Amazing review

Thank You!

the TS10 has become one of my favorite lights. I like the beam better than the FWAA, I like the Aux lights (on low on the nightstand), I like the button pressure (firmer than the FWAA), and I like the button position, at the tail, better than the SC21 Pro (lighted side button), and SP10 Pro (hard to find by feel, and unlit) sideswitch.

Now trying to get a better pocket clip…
.
love the leds, both the 5500K and 4000K are excellent.
love the Firefly low modes on the latest custom firmware
.

Is the aux always on? I got to admit I bought this light without any research and I’m just starting to read about it.

Can anyone share the most basic guide of its UI?

Aux is configurable. You can set it to low, hi, blinking, or off.

Make sure that you are in Advanced UI, 10H (click ten times, hold the last) from off. Then you can switch through the aux modes with 7C (click 7 times).

Off is when the Aux light is on, right? I’m starting from stock and haven’t changed any settings yet

Fresh from the box, the aux light is on ‘high’. In fact, the aux lights are always on ‘on’ unless you 7C it to ‘off’ or ‘blinking’.

Off is when the emitters are not ‘on’ — therefore the aux will be more prominent even at ‘low’

Hopefully that wasn’t confusing….

Just finished reading the manual thoroughly and I think I understand it now.

I’m just confused since after I turned off the aux, the battery check now only show the battery once. Before turning it off, the battery check was showing continuously showing until I click it once to turn if off. Now, it just shows the battery once and then turns off on its own

That’s because you’re in simple ui. Multiple flash is advanced ui(10h)

So that really is how the battery check is supposed to work when in Simple UI?

received new Red TS10 4000K w Red Aux, ordered from Wurkkos.com 15 days ago.

.

Factory defaults as received:
Aux are set to Bright when Off
turns On at 90 lumens in Advanced Ramping mode
mode memory timer is ON
floor is 0.01 lumens
Aux turn Off when Main LEDs turn on
(this is the new gchart firmware, installed by Wurkkos)

Although the firmware does not need reflashing to solve the Aux bugs anymore… I have a backup TS10 hex file with all my personal eeprom preferences saved:

Aux on Low when off
turn on in Advanced ramping
ramping speed option 2 (slower)
10 lumen manual memory
10 minute temporary memory
simple and advanced ramping floors at 1/150 = 0.01 lumens
simple and advanced ramping ceilings at 110/150 = 250 lumens
1H from off gives floor, no automatic ramping
2C gives ceiling, no Turbo
thermal limit set to 50C
—————

so I reflashed just to change all the defaults to my preferences, without having to set each change by hand

The TS10 is by far my favorite 14500 light… I change the pocket clip to an EDC05 clip:

.

And I replace the factory grease w Nyogel 760G, it glows blue under UV:
.
I get it from Oveready, it is what they use on their Titanium lights… it is excellent stuff, makes the threads very smooth

I also ordered some spare Titanium FWAA Bezels… they are a direct swap onto the TS10… Im waiting for a Black TS10 to arrive, so I can swap the bezel
.

Has anyone measured the current for aux lights on low and high?
