Hi guys, I am after some information about a flashlight that I have, it’s a Romisen RC-T6.
I bought it about 7 or 8 years ago and at that time it was an exceptional light though it obviously has been left in the dust of modern designs. It contains 6 Cree led’s, not sure if they are Q3’s or Q5’s and the switch has three settings feeding either two, four or the whole 6.
The problem is that now when the switch is activated the first setting fires up two led’s, the second setting fires up a different pair of led’s and the last setting fires up none.
I thought I would open it up to see if replacing the switch was a simple job but I can only remove the tail cap and last tube at the rear and the lens and reflector at the front. The rest of the light appears to be in one piece.
Does anybody have any advice? Even though the light is outdated I still like it and would like to have it operating the way it should.
I finally found a little information on the light, Romisen RC-T6 Teardown & Mod | Candle Power Flashlight Forum . Unfortunately the photo’s are long gone but it confirmed that the head of the light does come apart even though it appears that it doesn’t. I carefully put the body of the light into a vice and put a large filter remover (tractor size) around the light head and the head came loose. I then carefully unscrewed the alloy retainer that holds the switch in place and could then slide out the switch. When I did this a tiny piece of solder dropped out. I checked the circuit board of the switch and it appears that one of the connections to a little black square thing (technical term) has failed. I will resolder the connection and hopefully the light will work again, if not then I haven’t lost anything by trying.
This one is going to be kept as a spare only and probably will never be used. I have replaced it with a couple of more modern lights that have more power than I will ever need.
