I’m even keeping the format the same and directly quoting Firelight2.
“Overall, I’m a bit disappointed. For the price, this light should have been better. In many ways, it’s quite a nice light, but there are some key things they got wrong which turn what should have been a slam-dunk into a miss.” Couldn’t have said it better myself.
What I like: (Repeated in part from Firelight2.)
- Build Quality. Fit and finish are excellent. The light looks awesome.
- Ergonomic Shape. However, note that it is not quite as flat as it looks. There is a hump under the clip that makes the light fatter. This hump contains the driver.
- Able to use two AA-sized cells, including 14500 or 1.5v AA.
- Side rubber grips are very comfortable and grippy.
What I don’t like: (Repeated in part from Firelight2.)
- Rotating ring to change brightness of main LED requires quick swipes to adjust brightness. As far as I have discerned, adjustments are in steps, not smooth ramping.
- This ring is too recessed and hard to push.
- The small bumpers on the battery cover make both tail standing and magnetic holding unstable.
- The latch on the battery cover is quite finicky. The cover twice opened, while fishing the light out of my pocket; due to me not toggling the latch successfully.
Use Potential:
- Though I did think of returning the light, I decided to keep it (for its dual fuel capability) in the emergency bag in my car. I far prefer my NG KR1AA as a very capable EDC torch.
