RovyVon E8: Why This Is My #1 Keychain Flashlight! ✨🔦

3 Thanks

Very nice

Basically the same as E1 but with aux lights!

Awwww, it’s not The Ultimate Keychain Flashlight? :joy::joy::joy:

Gotta confess, I don’t think I ever EDCed a “keychain light”. I like my Oilight iR2D2 or whatever it is, both the original skinny one and the newer fatter one, and got the skinny one on a superlong lanyard as a “necklace” if I don’t have convenient pockets and know I’ll be needing a light, and got that Trustfire MiniX (?) rectangular doodad in white+UV which I also like.

Neither one is gonna get a beatdown in my pockets, though.

I did use some Glaree twisties as zipper-pulls, though. Scotchtape around it to keep it from unscrewing and losing half of it.

Maybe as a last-resort trapped in the woods on a dark moonless night and no sources of light except for a keychain light, but ordinarily if I’m going to EDC something, I want more firepower than a teenytiny little light.

1 Thank

Nah got tired of all the whinging :joy::joy:

I keep this on one of those pull cords attached to my backpack. In case I forget to bring another light with me… it has decent runtime compared to other keychain lights.

One thing that surprised me is that this flashlight series (E1, E3, E5, E7, E8) will take a NiMH as well as Liion (10440). The only downside with this–the charging mechanism will only charge the built-in Lipo battery. I suspect RovyVon didn’t want to get into the complication of verifying the type of battery installed to either enable or disable (e.g. AAA) the charging feature. It’s a shame, because there’s a charging routine already in the firmware, for the built-in Lipo battery. Anyway, for that reason, I decided not to buy one. I’m also a bit leery of that side clip that holds the front part in place (swivels when released). Some reviews I’ve seen show it’s a little finnicky.
