Samsung ICR18650-30B 18650 3000mAh Unprotected

I have a few Samsung ICR18650-30B 18650 3000mAh unprotected batteries (spec sheet) that I have been using in single cell flashlights. I’ve had no problems with them and would be quite happy to buy more for single cell use especially as they are quite cheap.
My charger only charges them to 4.22v rather than the 4.35v they are spec’d at so I assume I’m only getting around 80% of the 3000mAh but I can live with that.
However I now have a couple of multi cell light so am wondering how safe these batteries are in 3 or 4 cell lights (parallel and serial) ???
If their not up to it what cheapish batteries are recommended (I’m after 4) ???

I’ve used these in many lights, multi cell and in series and parallel
Not had any issues, just take the normal precautions, especially if using in series
Make sure they are all the same voltage, and matched sets I.e ideally from the same batch and had the roughly same amount of charge discharge cycles and use etc etc

Great - good to know. Matched sets - yes - that’s the reason I asked - I’ve got a SRK on the way and though I’ve got a number of 18650’s they’re all different ages so as I have to buy 4 new to match I was wondering whether to stick with the Samsungs or go for something different.

Where’s the cheapest place that you know , to get

these Samsungs :quest:

I don’t know where the cheapest can be had but Fasttech have them for $9.52 per pair - I’ll probably get them from Amazon UK as I don’t want to wait weeks to get them.

I have a pair of protected Samsung 30Bs from Fasttech .If I remove the protection circuit , are they 4.35 volt cells?

If they’re ICR18650-30B 3000mAh you should be able to charge them to 4.35v if your charger can charge to that level - mine can’t.

Thanks Log in,I’ve got an Xtar VP2 charger with 4.35 volt switch so it’s all good.
