Sanyo UR18650WX testing

Here’s a very knowledgeable guy that did some tests on the Sanyo UR18650WX cells. These puppies can pump out over 20 amps and not break a sweat. An Ebay seller has them (allegedly genuine) for 7 bucks a pop or you can get them out of Dewalt 20V tool packs.

Hey Scaru! 7 x XML power?

Battery development is just as important as LED development. The sum of both equals potential flashlight performance. Thanks for the info!

Those are nice cells. I'm getting them tested along with some IMR cells right now. Its a close call so far.. but the interesting curves are those above 10A.

If you could share the results that would be dang interest’n

I will, once we are done. :D

Up for test we had/have: AW IMR 1600mAh, Samsung INR 18650-20R, Sanyo UR18650WX and W2, Efest IMR 1500mAh and Sony US18650VTC2. 8 curves for each cell take a while tho, so be patient.

Ya think those Sanyo UR18650SAX are available anywhere?

Yup, but SAX doesnt really make sense today. WX performs as good as SAX but has more capacity.

Yeah, just saw that!

Who do you think is going to win the test?..…if you’re a gambling man!

Can’t wait

Can’t wait either! Cheers!

So far the Samsung IMR is really impressive. Also rated for 20A continuous discharge. I'm pretty sure that we will see something better than the AW.. It will be a close call between Sanyo WX and Samsung 20R in the end.

Sadly I couldnt get my hands on the Sanyo UR18650RX, doesnt seem to be available but it seems to be an awesome cell.^^

I just came across these cells in a Dell battery pack
Model:AP-BR-BATT

3x UR18650WX cells in each one.

Nominal Capacity: 1600mAh , a bit low. In most use cases VTC5(A) or 30Q are better IMO.

+1

But, if you wish to stay with Sanyo/Panasonic, and want the same “super high drain” rating/performance as the WX with higher capacity, look at the UR18650RX. It’s rated at 20A+ with a nominal capacity of 2050mAh. I’ve pulled a bunch from packs used in heavy-duty battery-powered drills and landscaping equipment (lawnmowers, leaf blowers, trimmers, etc.). Great cells.

This thread dates back to 2013!

threads get better with age, like wine

but even in 2013, there were better cells if I remember correct.
