Scratch Build with 7x XHP70

My first torch build using:

7x cree XHP 70 leds
7x random ebay reflectors
7x random ebay voltage/current adjustable drivers
ebay heatsink
80 mm computer fan

Running off a 4s Lipo.

Heatsink cut to shape

My car on low beam, there is more light than what is shown in these next pics , however the camera was set to manual so its still a good indication of the different output.

First beam shot, definitely a flooder.

200 Watts in a plastic pipe? - madness!! :+1:

What gauge wires are used between drivers & LED’s?

Would like to see this in person

Great work

Madness but nice build.

Awesome job RattleSnake.
Just don’t tell your plumber what its made of.
Amazing!

Nice job!

you need a better driver, those driver hardly push the xhp70 to the limit
i suggest DD driver :stuck_out_tongue:

I set them to the limts that were on the spec sheet, what are the “real” limts?

That’s pretty impressive for only pushing to what’s on the spec sheet…. You can find some tests by members on here where they push them to the limits. You can go pretty far beyond what the specs list without facing problems other than more heat to dissipate.

That’s why I went active cooling!
I’m guessing 20 guage.

Thanks guys!
Forgot to post the pics with the shoulder strap added, hangs nicely by my hip.

I can’t help but Smile in Amazement at your creation, very ingenious, Great Job! :+1:

Awesome light! :+1:
There is one thing I would do: shave all or most of the LEDs to get a bit more throw.

Nice job, how long did it take to build?

Cool

Nice. I agree with The Driver. I would shave the LEDs for more throw.

You are driving each LED at around 25W. They can handle double or triple that pretty reliably. And I guess your active cooling could also handle the extra load? And it looks like you have a lot of room for batteries in there!

That thing it’s pretty awesome but I can hear it screaming. “Paint me flat black!!!”

That is an amazing light you built. I love it, well done.

A lot more than they are rated for in the spec sheet.

If you use XHP70.2s you can get the same output as your 7 LEDs out of only 2-3 LEDs.

Very impressive RattleSnake!

Was this a UFO that came down to check it out? :open_mouth:
