The X1 is a very high-output flashlight featuring three XHP70.2 emitters running on two included 21700 rechargeable batteries. It features a distinctive build, with a built-in fan to maintain excellent thermal performance during max output.
I’ve been glad to see the general lack of PWM upon my return to reviewing. But a lot of simpler circuits have detectable high-frequency noise, which appears to be negatively correlated with regulation and efficiency. The X1 has a very clean pattern - and is correspondingly a very flat-regulated and efficient light.
Absolutely, that’s always the concern with in-series battery chargers. Don’t know the specifics of their circuit, but I’ve had a lot of lights over the years with this design (e.g. Eagletac) and never had any problems. So I’m not too concerned here.
Thanks for the review. The Wuben X1 is truly phenomenal. A one of a kind flashlight. It has everything I have been looking for except good tint and HI CRI. However, an emitter swap would solve that problem.
