So I have a bit of a confession to make - I’ve always been fond of of the Gearlight S1050. Sure, it’s an Amazon 18650 zoomie, but it has style. I like the polygonal ring pattern with cross-hatch knurling, and its a good size for my hands. The red power switch is nice and visible, and the twist to zoom is more controllable. However, they are not exactly powerful.
Imagine my surprise at seeing the M21A on the Convoy website. There’s definitely a resemblance, along with ab it of the C8+
Any other flashlights have a similar appearance? Any guides to finding my way through the sea of LEDs available?
These Amazon lights: Run! For a few dollars more you can get a light years superior flashlight from Wurkkos (FC11C) or about $15 more the TD04 or TS23, or Convoy M21A, M21B or C8+. Any of those are in another quadrant compared to the Amazon specials. You can get ThruNite, Wurkkos, Sofirn, olight, Fenix, Nitecore and others on Amazon, but direct from Convoy or the manufacturer is much cheaper.
I like the aesthetics and appearance of the Gearlight S1050, and I was commenting that the Convoy light looks very similar. The only difference is the switch boot color, which is obviously changeable. My question was if there are other lights that look similar to the Gearlight while being higher quality, just like the Convoy M21A
Ironically, I first heard about Convoy & flashlight enthusiasts in general while searching for reviews on the Gearlight. That lead me to the 1lumen.com review of the Gearlight S1000, which gave similar advice to you. My plan is to retire more of these zoomlights as I acquire better lights
Not to be snooty but your title is almost offensive, to Convoy, lovers of… They have absolutely no common DNA
I bought one of those S1000s a while back and the disc of a pill it has popped out while zooming. I sent it back in protest in utter detest!
Nice. I wrote that review i also did the S2000 Gearlight. For a cheap starter flashlight the S2000 wasn’t terrible, but for $20 you can do a lot better.
