shining beam blaze

What do we thing of the shining beam blaze? Seems like a pretty decent lite. On sale now too. Any opinions would be helpful.

I have 2 and a third one on the way. I really love it.
By far my favorite light!

A really solid bright light with good throw and nice wide spill.

A little front heavy though, but really high quality for $30!

It’s pretty well built for the price. A bit head heavy but ticks all the boxes. The fwd switch is on the heavy side, too.

The tint is quite cold, which is why I threw it in the car. Nice for just lighting things up, but not “pleasant” to use frequently. Would buy more if it came with more neutral tint.

Exactly what I was thinking! Front heavy, but for $30 is a very solid light. Well made also. Good choice.

Yeah, it is not only front heavy but has a short body which makes it worse. Doesn’t feel great in the hand but it is a nice well built light and well worth $30.

I got mine to mount on a shotgun but the head is so large that I need a different mount because the head hits the barrel in a normal size mount.

Love the UI. One mode forward clicky unless you change modes. Love that idea. My Klarus does it that way and I like it.

Good value and quality, Bryan is a nice owner, fast shipping, holster only $3 bucks add on, + blfuser discount!

It’s an excellent light. It gets warm quickly even though it’s ‘only’ driven at ~2 amps in High mode (good heat management). Just feels really solid. I like the slightly heavy forward clickie; the boot undergoes a little bit of very deliberate travel before the switch clicks-a nice ‘snappy’ click at that.

edit: I agree that the tint (1A), while one of the better of 1-bin ‘cold’ whites (especially more desirable than 1S, 1T, etc.), is a very (for lack of a more applicable word) ‘utilitarian’ chroma. It certainly gets the job done. One of these days, though, I’m going to mod mine with a Hi-CRI Nichia 219 or XP-G2 1D…

I have one and i definitely recommend it, real solid light, and a very simple UI to learn. It is head heavy, but a good solid heavy feel, must have very good heat sinking. I like the feel of the switch, it has a tough reassuring click to it when pressed to activate the light. Tint is pretty cool, especially next to my NW bc40, but doesn’t bother me since i prefer cool tints/not really a tint snob. Light output is excellent, close to claimed output i would say. additionally it has trapezoid/square anodized tail cap threads so it can be locked out when in storage/not in use

Great light, similar (not duplicate) to ThruNite T30. I have both and really like both.

Can you provide a comparison between the two (like pros/cons) for us?

One thing I know is the T30 uses current-control for lower modes and it has a super low mode; no strobe. Blaze uses fairly high frequency PWM on medium mode, and slightly slower PWM on Low (harder to see on Medium than on Low).

What Slim said. The main difference is in the modes (L-M-H-Strobe for the Blaze: VL-M-H for the T-30). Mode changing is also a bit more exact with the T30. Done on both by twisting the head. The Blaze is cool tint, the T30 warm. Blaze definitely appears brighter, I don’t know how much of that is due to the tint difference. I haven’t measured tail cap draw as yet. Both are satisfyingly bright.

does the Blaze run well on 2 x cr123 primaries (runtime, brightness, heat issues)?

No heat issues with 123 X2, bright with them, but runtimes best with good 18650. Hope this helps.

yes it does thank you
