ill post it when I find it stevedog, ive seen wildboar 25-s and like them.kj is small size so will get 25 large from wild boar.do you have any experiences with spyderco militaries, are they more or less the same or theres different grades.the one I ordered was around 16us but on sale and seller is top rated and good reviews.others are all 18-20us.
Sorry, no Spyderco clones for me… only Shirogorov and Sebenza’s. I do though like the Brad Southard designed Spyderco clone, maybe I’ll pull the trigger one day. PM BLF member Lobster, maybe he has some insight.
I have a dozen of original spydercos, and was thinking of getting Military model too, theyre good knives, but way overpriced in my opinion.Ill try this copy, and then maybe get original.9cr13holds edge well enough for my uses, and its always easy to resharpen it on dmt stone when needed.
Stevedog,if these are d2 or close to it,and d2 is my favorite steel.ill order few more of it.The major companies are way overpriced, for what you get, youre just paying for brandname!
D2 hmm… who knows, but I do know Green Thorn produces a very well made high quality clone. I have read/heard that a number of mid-tech knife makers have parts cnc fabricated in China then assembled at OEM factory.
Side note: Swiss watch movement maker ETA once had a factory in China, now we can get Chinese watch replicas with Chinese 2824, 2836 and 2893 clone ETA movements.
My buddy has a Ontario rat clone, that he got for 15us,and it is superbly made, has 9cr17 steel and is a really nice knife.I have original, thats made in Taiwan, that cost me 45can dol here some time ago.His copy is better made and has better steel than the original.I have seen so many so called budget knives that can be had for fraction of price, the big companies just put their names on it and sell it for 4-5xmore.Im sure some of these makers have parts made in China,or even entire knives made there, but on the knives its stamped made in Usa,etc. On a lot of forums as soon as you mention a clone,or even similar design people start attacking you, etc.People talk of ethics and respecting major knife companies, but those same companies are mostly interested just in profit. They for sure have some parts or even whole knives made in China. And quality of Chinese knives is very good.People on blade forums regularly put down Chinese knives, how bad they are ,etc. The truth is just the opposite,I have seen clones that are better than so called originals.
These rat1 clones are superb for edc ,hard use,and anything you can imagine, and also very cheap,I would recommend them to anyone. Most of these knives put knives like Spyderco Teancious and their byrd line to shame,Same or worse knives, with Spyderco name that cost 2-3 times more.
Yes,these and ganzo rats with axis are excellent,i have the famous tenacious knife i bought few yrs ago for 45$can,and these knives are better in every way.Meanwhile on most forums pple prqise tenacious, and if you say anything the argument starts.tenacious is probably just sanrenmu with spyderco name on it.
Do you mean the blue handled Y-start? That’s a fine folder too with very smooth opening/closing. Ocassionally I use it for food prep and it holds its edge well.
According to the seller’s pics it looks the same as my Green Thorn Shirogorov Dark. Have a look at my pics.
Mine also arrived with the same high quality Green Thorn pouch.
