Hi. What AAA lights are very short in length? A lot of AAA lights are larger than they might be due to large reflector heads. So what small options are out there?
you can checkout the skilhunt e3a (59.5 x 14mm)
alcaline (not recommanded), nimh or lithium accepted
great value and high cri led option
Lumintop edc01? It looks very small to me with a narrow head. I believe there is also no flashlight switch (its a twisty head) which further reduces the length. There is no large reflector head. I think a TIR lens is used to focus the beam. It has the advantage of being a cheap flashlight (about $10-15) but it has the main drawback of dim brightness and low runtime but thats expected in such a small host.
Probably Olight i3E EOS!
EDIT:
I was wrong, Skilhunt E3A is even shorter!
The E3A is indeed compact, I wish it was a 2 or 3 mode light or even that the single mode was slightly lower.
Dang! I thought the KC1 was small. E3A is 7.5mm shorter. And 0.8mm more narrow at the head.
@Zymology , welcome to BLF!
Lumintop EDC AAA is the smallest one that I have. Three level twisty. The Fenix E01 V2 is real close, may be thinner, but a mm or two longer(?) Also 3 level twisty. The EDC AAA is a straight tube design, The E01 has a head that is just slightly wider than the tube, but the head is close to the same diameter as the EDC AAA.
Decided to tak a photo:
For reference the E01 is about 66 mm long by 15 mm in diameter at the head 14 mm for the body.
EDC AAA is 61.5 X 14 mm
BTW, I have had an E01 on my keychain for many years. Small enough and light enough that it doesn’t get in the way, but very reliable after all of this time.
Welcome Luis
Olight i3e, Skilhunt E3A, Thrunite Ti2 are all the same size, smallest single mode twisty AAA lights.
Only the Skilhunt E3A is High CRI.
Maratac is 3 mode twisty, presently only available in Low CRI
Fenix E01 single mode twisty, Low CRI, discontinued
Tool AAA w eSwitch, 3 mode clicky, some are High CRI, some are not.
DQG tiny AAA. Never saw a smaller AAA light in 20 years in this hobby ( except the Preon O from 4 seven but it was heavily inspired from the DQG, the head were even the same threads)
Interesting. My three
E01s are a lot different than that one. Plus they are three mode twisty lights.
But yeah, I just noticed mine are all the V2 lights
I don’t have any of those other lights to do a comparison… But for reference that DQG Tiny AAA is 61.5mm×12.5m
good info, but OP wont be able to buy that model, it has been discontinued
the Skilhunt E3A, Olight i3e, Thrunite Ti2 are 60.5 x 14.1mm… The i3e costs the least, when Olight gives them away for free, plus $5 for shipping.
Good point… I just mentioned it because @derfyled mentioned it was the smallest he had ever seen…
Just as a point of reference.
Anyway, for ~$15, the E01 does the job for me. I hope the @Zymology got some good info from the discussion.
Klarus Mi6
I bought a few of the Skilhunts and find the single mode and high CRI perfect for a tiny keychain light.
I have the olight i3eos and the lumintop edc01, I don’t notice that small size difference on the keychain and having 3 modes makes up for it.
The olight i3eos and the skilunt E3A are the shortest but having a little more with 3 modes as with the fenix E01v2 compensates.
Keychain lights are the ones I use the most on a daily basis, always at hand.
1 x AAA flashlights are my favorites, they are easy to carry. Of all the ones AAA I have (more than a hundred) the most compact ones are the ones in the photo, all between 59 and 62 mm: Solidline (Led Lenser) ST1 // Olight i3e // Angryfox playfox K1S (stainless steel) // Trustfire Mini-06 // Skilhunt E3A // Klarus Mi6 // Ultrafire Ti10 (Titanium) // Trustfire Mini3.
For comparison, an old Fenix E05 with 27 lumens and 65 mm, clearly larger than all the others.
I don’t have the Thrunite Ti2, also 60 mm, nor the Ultrafire UF-T1, titanium, with 59.5 mm, which is a very similar model but not the same as the one I have in the photo, this one measures about 61 mm; and I’ve already sold my DQG AAA of about 56-57 mm, the shortest in the world with AAA battery, as far as I know.
Inside the cork, a Trusfire Mini-06 with one almost dead battery
Yes, I think there is more to an AAA light than just small size. I really like having three levels. Even more if the light is setup to always start on the lowest mode (E01). Something that many miss on. I just don’t care for M/H/L sequences or worse H/M/L. Most of the time with an AAA light I just want minimal light for something like getting a key into a lock. I don’t need to have my night vision killed with 100 plus lumens.
OTH, I use my TS10s much, much more than the E01. But it is a bit large for keyring use.
Love the oLight i3s. Such a shame they no longer make them, as they were the perfect EDC keychain light for me. The i3e is great, but I would rather have the three modes if available - 120 lumens is just a little too much at times. I love my Astrolux AO1, too. Build quality is better than the oLights, but it’s just a tad too big to wear about the neck all day. long.
lookup the skilhunt e3a its very small and compact. easy to carry.
