I’m just worried about focusing the reflector with stock xml gasket
Spot focusing with stock XML gasket is prefect in new Convoy C8.
Look at this:

The second C8 is a dedomed XML2 C8 with original gasket.
cool! I should prepare myself for some dedome.
I hope my lighter fluid would dedome it as cleanly on xml2 compared to the previous xml
Seems good
Thanks for the encouragement. I’m liking my dedomed 1A tint now. Still need to clean up the silicone a little to get a nicer beam but I’ll leave it there for the bond wires and deal with the imperfections. The spot is much tighter now
Daylight white balance
left is stock 1A on Convoy S2+
right is dedomed 1A on Convoy C8
Did you notice the tint change at all or very much?
tint change is always very obvious in most of my dedomes I’ve tried (as well as many others from other modders)
In this case of XML2 U2 1A tint it transformed from slight purple blue day white to a guitar cream white with a very slight green hue
Interesting… might try this on my own XML2 U2-1A powered Convoy C8. It would be nice to get an extra 10-15 meters of throw out of it.
just make sure you soak the LED overnight in gasoline. Soak longer than 24 hours.
Don’t rush like me or you’ll get messy dedome which can alter tints if you accidentally peel the phosphor.
I kinda had a tiny bald spot in my LED from cleaning up the mess as the dome didn’t pry out all the way. Some silicone got stuck in the middle.
It’s unnoticeable but it bugs me knowing I did my mistake lol
That’s OK, XML2’s are fairly cheap… would just suck to have to reflow it onto a noctigon or something nice.
