Is this still considered to be the best charger right now for in the $50 price range? Also how does it do with completely dead batteries will it charge them? Or is there something new being released that I should hold off on for now?

Yes, the Vapcell S4 Plus V3 gets recommended the most on BLF.
I don’t know how it does with completely dead batteries, though.
I’m not able to advice you on this charger, but just want to make you aware that Wurkkos is currently having a sale on them on their own website: Vapcell S4+ Smart Chargers with 4 Slots, max 3A per slot, for 10440 14500 16340 18650 21700 and 26650 Batteries
It might be a (financially) interesting option, if you’re willing to order directly from their website.
At least for me (here in the EU), it’s currently the lowest price I can find for the S4+ V3. The US version is currently priced a bit higher on Wurkkos their website, so I’m not sure if the price difference is as interesting for me, than it is for you.

OK thanks. Yeah I had to use the wire method to jump start my 2 dead AA batteries with my BT-C3100 I currently use.
I’ve used it to refresh some killed-by-sofirn-sp10v3 14500s. It worked. I also revived some super old AA NiMH. It’s been super solid in the 3 years ive had it (i have the V2)
