Just had to vent.
The second half of a custom designed integrating sphere failed 24 hours into a 30 hour print job.
And my printer is now jammed up.
Sigh…

Finally finished the second half.
Not the look i was trying for, completely unintentional actually, but it works.
Nice. What surface/coating are you using for the inside?
Deathstar was my first impression, too!
What’s the reason behind 3D print Vs a polystyrene sphere etc? Strength?
I guess hypothetically with the 3D printed method, you could scale up to any size if you made sections of a sphere which could glue/bolt/clip together…?
Barrium Sulphate
I picked up a jug to try some passive cooling but it will work here too. I’m planning on coating it in white, then spraying with clear and coating the wet clear with the baso4
I have the printer and the supplies, i dont have a polystyrene sphere, lol
I do actually have a version that is 8 sections, each as big as my printer can print. I debated printing it but didnt feel like spending the $40 in filament
I had printed the second half on my other printer and unfortunately the quality is just too bad. I will have to reprint it on my primary printer as it is much better. Still a 24 hour print which is annoying
Was able to get usable port coverings and light mounts, also finished my meter holder (opple)
Both just simply painted in these pictures, still need to further smooth and to apply the final coating.
