Plenty of Solarforce hosts won’t tailstand - for example the L2, L2M, L2T, P1.
Slewflash quite rightly pointed out the L2M as or $11 for the host it’s excellent bang for the buck.

They may not stock, but you can always get a new switch.
Definitely more flood than throw especially the one with the OP reflector. Just like the famous world renowned E2100 custom.
fandyfire hd2011
Correct, but he wanted a non-tailstander.

Good luck with that one. :P
I would try something with a TIR optic. P60s are rather throwy imo.
If a P60 is to "throwy" then you can just stipple the reflector. It actually makes a huge difference.
what is a TIR optic? can you send me a link to one light that has them?
Here are two threads on TIR lenses:
Don’t think there’s been an XM-L TIR off-the-shelf before. See here. I’m puzzled by the two beam shots. TIR’s can’t zoom AFAIK.
Hi guys Have any of you seen a XM-L flashlight with TIR lens? What kind of “beam” it will produce? It is not a bit “stupid” to put a TIR lens in a XML This is the “guilty” flashlight http://www.dealextreme.com/p/ultrafire-pd32-cree-xm-l-t6-550lm-5-mode-memory-white-light-flashlight-golden-1-x-18650-146447?Utm_rid=43033281&Utm_source=affiliate
They look like a reflector on first glance but produce a different beam. Reflectors usually make a hotspot and some spill while the desired effect of a TIR is a large uniform beam: a wall of light.
Sadly there arent that many lights with a TIR lens right away.
But if you want to build something yourself, there are a lot of options.
I recommend one of these hosts:

20mm optics will fit pretty good and they are small enough.
Now you have to choose LED and driver and select an optic. Carclo frosted lenses produce one of the best beams imo.
As was pointed out earlier, you can add a diffuser disk to most lights for flood then remove it for normal use. I’ve made a few from plastic soda bottles, they work well and are thin so you can store them inside the body tube.

See the post #2.
THIS ONE HERE.
Good spread of power levels, well-made, small-ish, bright (8*7135 driver), no blinkies, choice of driver, choice of tints, choice of modes.
Costs $35.95. I’m very happy with mine.
