Single Cell - "Small" flashlights

It’s been a while since I’ve posted here or visited the site. Had to create a new login as, for some odd reason, my old login just wasn’t working anymore!

Any way, I have been into lights for a VERY, very, long time. I told myself, a couple of years back, “…whatever I have in my collection, that’s all that I need, no more.” Fast-forward to the last year, and I’ve been reassessing which lights I find useful/need.

What I found was that, technology has moved forward so that, things like in-built charging options are now viable and reliable.

So, with that in mind, with a budget that is much smaller these days compared to when I didn’t have a family, I’ve leaned towards Sofirn’s offerrings. In the past few months, I’ve added their SC18, HS10 and SC13 to my collection. As a bit of a throwback and comparison, I lined them up against my other single cell lights to compare sizes…

I think I may go another couple of years in hiatus before I start buying more lights. Surprisingly, my 15 year old cells are still ok, and they include the old eneloops and li-ions that were recommended back in the day.

Nice! Welcome back to the forum!

Perhaps if you PM the admin you can get your old account back?

I see a couple of zebras, the mule looks like it’s got a luxeon rebel, I still use my H52 with the same LED.

The old school 4Sevens lights look nice, too.

I posted in the “have we reached peak flashlight?” Thread a while back saying LED lights have been “pretty good” for a long time, think I used 2011 as an example (e.g the Fenix LD20).

There has been a flurry of activity in the last year or so with new, neutral/warm LEDs and high intensity or high output Chinese LEDs, however I’m still yet to reflow some SFTs into any of my older lights (XML and XPLs), so I’m not best person to ask specific advice!

The BLF X5 and X6 should be easily moddable should you wish to “update” them.

Reylight makes nice lights, and I’ve a Skilhunt E3A on my wishlist with view to modding to lower output. New workbench needs to be set up before I can get cracking again though!
