I got mine, a grey 3 modes clone, from ebay (seller easebon, less than 6 usd), my brother got the “real” single mode one a week ago from fasttech. I ordered one too but it’s at customs (got the letter yesterday).Too bad fasttech doesn’t carry 3 modes…
The FP one is easily the worst of my SK68s. Bad ano (like paint), bad machining, and the C-ring is not even a real flat C-ring, it’s just a piece of metal wire wrapped on the body! The head also wobbles and moves without effort.
What’s worst is the price… dang… you’d expect something at least decent given it’s $2-3 more than other places.
I got few black, single mode ones, from TomTop a year ago, they all work fine, one of them was my daily EDC light, saw some massive abuse and kept on working.
Now, I also got 3 mode ones from Viki company at Ebay, with silver zoom-ring.
They work fine, however they have nasty habit on quitting on you unexpectedly, its because once battery runs down low enough, the light will start just fine, then will quit when trying to switch modes and then wont turn on back again.
Not too good when being somewhere outdoors left without light that way :D!
It seems like the UltraOK ones found on ebay are just as good as Sipik branded ones.
I also have one that has no name at all and it is not as well made, but not all that bad, I wouldn’t even complain about it if I hadn’t already seen the “real” ones to compare against.
3-mode is not as bright, simply because the driver actually regulates/limits the output on high. It may be a good thing as it does considerably increase runtime.
For single mode though, Tomtop sk68 is a good bet.
Same here! I spent much less time deciding on the SC-600. I’ve now ended up ordering one from Tomtop, too. It’ll be interesting to see which SK68 I like better.
