The Skilhunt M200 is a simple, compact 18650 powered flashlight. The M200 features the Samsung LH351D emitter in neutral white (5000k), which is rated for 850 lumens on turbo. The beam profile has a fairly tight hotspot and usable spill thanks to the smooth reflector. Included in the package is a high capacity 3500 mah button top 18650 battery, magnetic charger, lanyard, and pocket clip. The included battery is not proprietary and the light functions and charges just fine with my other flat top 18650’s.
The black anodizing is very smooth with a semi-matte finish. The anodization and build quality is great. The tailcap, body tube, and bezel are all smooth with no sharp edges.
The M200 features magnetic charging onboard the light. Charging is very simple with the included magnetic cable. There is a red LED on the cable when charging which turns blue when the light is fully charged. The magnetic charging is great to help with the water resistance of the light. The charging cable is the same as the one used in the Skilhunt H04 RC. The side switch on the M200 has a blue indicator that illuminates for 5 seconds when the light is turned on to show battery status. The switch indicator will flash blue when battery is low l then flash red when battery is less than 20%. The switch is slightly recessed in the bezel and did not turn on accidentally during normal use.
One feature I appreciate in this light is the magnetic tail cap. The magnet is very strong and can support the light upside down and horizontally. The included pocket clip is not deep carry but it does provide good retention of the light. The pocket clip allows bezel up carry only and leaves about an inch of the light exposed. The body tube cannot be removed from the head so the body tube and pocket clip cannot be reversed.
The M200 features two UI’s, Group A being more complicated and Group B being more simple. A single press turns the light onto the last memorized mode. A long press from off is moonlight, hold while on cycles through moonlight, low, med, high, and a double click activates turbo. To change into the other UI, hold the switch for 5 seconds from off. The lights comes shipped in Group A UI. For an EDC light, Group B is fairly straightforward and simple for regular use.
A great feature of this light is the Samsung LH351D LED with high CRI. This light produces a smooth beam with great color rendering at an affordable budget. I do not notice any green tint from my 5000k example. For an EDC/general use light, the beam profile is perfect. As you would expect, the light gets slightly warm on turbo. A great feature I love is the low moonlight mode of .5 lumens. The mode spacing in Group B is well spaced, however I wish moonlight mode was not in the regular mode rotation.
In conclusion, the M200 is a very compact, simple, high quality flashlight at a reasonable price.
Things I like:
- High CRI 5000k emitter
- Included high capacity 18650 battery
- Simple UI in Group B
- Strong magnetic tailcap
- .5 lumen moonlight mode
Things I don’t like:
- Moonlight mode is in normal UI rotation
- The pocket clip is not deep carry nor bezel down
- Button is a little too recessed into the bezel
