SkyRay 6-XM-L - Battle Of The Kings - BeamShot Image updates!

looking from beam of Kung vs 6 XML, i think it’s quite peculiar.
Kung can throw a more tight spot further but at the same time the spill is wider than King 6 XML.
6 XML although have lesser spill angle, the hotspot fall shortly on the ground before the tree.
rather contradict each other?

anyway, I also like my Kung. good buy although bit pricier when first boom

Nice beam shots for comparison. Its interesting the Kung’s beam profile even seems wider than the 6XML and throwier at the same time. Kung, even arriving majorly dinged up, is still my favorite of the Kings style due to beam profile, I dont have a 6XML I can still say that from your picture. But both are outclassed by the Warrior XML2 I have though, so I dont use Kings or Kung anymore really since I got the Warrior.

Are you talking about the Olight m22 warrior? that light shows max of 950 lumen output. Just wondering hows does the warrior outclass the Skyray which is around 2000-3000 lumen, unless your talking about sheer size only?

I believe he is refering to the Solarstorm Warrior II , which is a bit more expensive 3- XM-L2 light that is simmilar in style to w SRK with a dual button interface. ( my brother has one, but his is a tough brighter my 3-emitter regular King, and my Kung seems to be a touch brighter than his Warrior)
Either i got a brighter Kung than average, or my brother has a bad Warrior, or B42 as a good bright Warrior.

Yes you are right, and what is it’s other name, YL-02? Look for the Warrior thread on here, lots more info. I have a Warrior with XML2s, that is probably the difference, since a 4 emitter Kung should always beat it, but my Warrior is brighter, throwier but not floodier. My Kung arrived beat up with the driver hanging out, so you can tell what kind of care was taken with it, slightly brighter than my SRK with a wider flood. Many people have complained of quality issues with Kungs and similar or less brightness than SRK, while a few have actually gotten very bright Kungs…I’d guess you are rolling the dice more here than with other lights when you order a Kung.

True with the Kungs its a gamble on where its bought to determine if somone gets a good one or bad one. My Kung still has the regular XM-L T6 emitters, maybe i should upgrade it to XM-L2s to get more out of it, and even mod the driver with heavier leads, etc.

You could, but, doesn’t yours burn your hand after about 15min of usage? Not frying my hand is one of the many reasons I like Warrior better. Besides not burning your hand and being brighter, its throwier, better hand fit, infinitely variable output switch, momentary on, battery power indicator. Kung’s advantages being floodier with more emitters and having a stainless steel bezel ring (unless you get a model with a polished aluminum or nickel or who knows what bezel ring).

Is guess any of these kings or Kungs are a gamble on which is better. We have 3 kings and 1 Kung. Two of the kings are slightly brighter and easily out throw the Kung, but one king is has a good 200 less lumen than the Kung, and similar throw. It’s a crap shoot I guess.

What run times are you getting from the warrior ? my Kung definitely gets hot, but not so much to burn my hands.

A bit over an hour I think last I timed it. I havent run the batteries down as low as possible though. It does get uncomfortably hot still if its not cool outside. But the Kung will start to become very uncomfortable above the body after about 15mins and later unhandleable above the body it gets so hot. You could probably get minor burns if you kept it on and held it firmly, I turn it off before that point.

Im thinking of selling my brand new 6-XM-L King for $ 30 plus shipping if anyones interested, to fund towards my SRK Super Thrower project.

I got one in and tossed it into the Sphere ’o Many Mysteries:

High: 1800 lumens
Low: 600 lumens
PWM on low: 198 Hz
Strobe: 9 Hz
CCT: 6500K

Really, not any different than a regular SRK…

I may mod it with my custom SRK driver and 6 copper mounted Nichia 219s driven a 1.5 amps each…

tease...

much the same thougths what i found, its close to a standard SRK.

I popped the driver out of mine… there are two wires from the driver going to all the LEDs… those wires look to be around 30 gauge!

The 6-XM-L SRK i have too seems to be likely # 30 guage wires. Much to thin for the 6 emitters.
