So uh… as a definite answer, which of the two is brighter? the Apex or the King?
close…The Apex flood is larger and brighter.
I will say i like the king’s overall feel. It fits the hand well.
I will buy this flashlight when they build a 5 mode (Hi-Mid-Lo-Strobe-SoS) + memory model…

My SkyRayKing have arrived at my doorstep just and I would say its one heck of a bright torch. Its day time now tho , waiting for night to come. Took 8 days from ordered date to arrive , +1 for manafont 
WOW mines taking ages. thats after dd screwed me on a different one thats 8 weeks and its returned to their warehouse now saying they refunding my money but another 2 months wait for that omg!

Mine arrived from HK Equipment to UK in 8 days . Very good comms from Stanley. The box was wrapped in brown paper with string around in, nice touch. Hand written address.
I placed my order with Light malls as many said here that they were fast. 5 days later and my Skyray King hasn’t even left them yet! ‘Waiting to be packed’. Very annoying!

Yeah, if that’s the exact version you get, it would be unbranded and the same version CNQ was selling as the NW version.
i dunno, to my eyes the comparison shots with the apex, i have the skyray king to be brighter. looking at the trees in the middle of the picture, the trees seems more lit up vs the apex, but the apex covered my area.

That’s because the apex has more flood, and less of a distinguishable hotspot. Although the trees in a middle are less lit up by the apex, the side trees are more lit up than the king.
I guess it’s a choice, whether you prefer more flood or more throw.
Looks like Tmart has reduced the price of the King. Now only $59.69 and still shipped from US for us buyers in the States.
About a few days ago I ordered a Skyray King (Fatty) from Tmart at $AU59.39 and paid for express shipping as my order included a couple of other things I want.
Shipping was around $15.
The same thing JohnnyMac was talking about.
The URL at the top of the Tmart page says 5 mode but underneath in the specs it says 3 mode.
I will have to wait to find out what is going on.

maybe its a typo error made. there is only 3 mode. high/low/strode (press the button for 2 secs when light is on)
Go to the link below and then look at the adddress line at the top where inside the URL it says 5 mode and then look further down in the description of the light it states 3 modes.

Also Tmart has the light dimensions stuffed up as in the advertised specification area it states - 13.5” x 5.8” x 5.2” / (13.5 x 5.8 x 5.2) cm (L x Head Dia.x Body Dia.)
The imperial and the metric figures are the same.
This light is no bigger than about 5 1/2” as in the size of a Coke can.
This sort of thing makes it hard to figure out what you are exactly buying!

Does King work with unprotected 18650 cells?
I have only LG 4.35v unprotected cells.
This battery is a flat top battery
