Sluggish mode switching on Astrolux C8

Hi to all,

Im new here, hoping to find an answer to following problem with my Astrolux C8 XPL HI. It has the BLF A6 driver. While stepping up the modes, it works flawlessly, short click leads to next higher mode.

However the backwards switching from higher to lower modes is very sluggish. The “medium” click sometimes takes up to 2-3 seconds which i find quite annoying, especially when I compare it to performance of the Astrolux S1 which has the same driver inside. There the switching works perfectly, with almost immediate response.

I noticed that the C8 performs significantly better when it gets a bit hot, which makes me believe there is some heat sensitive electronic component inside. Any idea what could be done about it? With the Astrolux S1 i did not experience such issue at all.

The timing of the BLF A6 driver is quite dependent on its ‘surroundings’, it is tweaked once by Toykeeper for the BLF-A6 flashlight but since used unaltered in many many other flashlights by Astrolux. Sometimes it works well and sometimes the timings get unfriendly.
And indeed, heating it up makes the timings faster.
There is nothing easy you can do except tweaking the firmware yourself if you are into that.

Thanks for your input. For the promo price I bought it for, I can live with what it is. Guess during summer months it will work better
