Hi guys,
As you may know I do love taking beamshots and now that I’ve received my 2*AA red maglite from OldLumens modded with a nichia 219 I just can’t seem to stop using it! I just love it! I used to think that the brighter the better, because I’d be able to see more. But ever since I’ve touched this light I can’t help but think that CW lights are poop. Now I know that I just need a high CRI light and I have the perfect one. I run it on 1 14500 and 1 AA dummy to give it 288 lumens (rough calculation) and honestly, I would say 288 lumens is enough. If I wanted to see as well as I do with a 219 using a CW emitter I’d have to have a lot more lumens, because of the glare and the washing out.
Here are the lights in the beamshots:
Solarforce L2M with NW drop in from intl-outdoors:
X2000 (honestly I don’t even know why I still have this…) :
I think that everyone should own a light fitted with a nichia 219.
