Smd LED bulbs

is anyone familiar with the LED boards for cars like this one : This product is no longer available. ?

I bought one of these from ebay for a few bucks hoping to use it over a small aquarium. This this is total overkill for my purpose, it is super bright. Its hard to compare it to flashlights with reflectors but i bet this thing is putting out 500 lumens. My question is I was going to salvage an old 12v adapter to run the bulb but how do I know how many amps the adapter should supply? Will the bulb only draw what it needs or does the adapter need to supply the correct amperage? I have no idea what the correct amperage would be but supposedly these bulbs only draw 3 watts. Thanks for any advice.

BTW the one I bought has 24 5630 LEDs.

Each bulb must draw almost 0.500amp you can use any dc 12 volts PS for that…

SMD is that they have a much larger beam angle than LED, 120 degress rather than 60 or 30. Key point is SMD LED are even more energy efficient and long lasting than normal LED Bulbs.

wrong.
smd is the mounting arragement.
this replaced through hole 5mm.
both are and were mainly used in cheap led bulbs.reliability and lumen maintainence both are poor.
this class of bulb is what gives led bulbs a bad name from those who were stung buying them.
