Any info on that new Sofirn 5000mAh battery? I got one with my SC28 that I have just received from them, and I’m looking for its datasheet in order to program my MC3000 charger to best work with it.
BTW, Sofirn still points to your review (and the one by @HKJ, done at about the same time) on their product page for this battery; as the latest ones are so much better, it should be in their best interest to send you a couple so you can do a new review (tagging @Barry0892 from Sofirn to put him in the loop).
No problem, and thank you for your prompt and sincere response.
OK. Just one more question, if you don’t mind: you mentioned “The one they’re using now seems to much, much better”; was that in your own experience, or something else? Could you offer me any pointers so I can try and hunt this down?
I know this is an older thread. Thanks for all the info.
Does anyone know what battery is under the wrapper now?
I just got these batteries along with my Q8 a couple weeks ago.
I am going to buy the BAK N21700CG 50 for spares. A decent review by mooch and the light which takes three cells, doesn’t need more than 10 or 12 amps. Per battery(36 Total)
Because one of the reviewers Q8 got Fried by p-42a I’m staying away from the High amp 21700.
Thx
For what it’s worth, I’ve been using Molicel P45B’s with my Sofirn Q8 Plus without any issues, and having excellent performance on turbo (noticeably brighter than the Sofirn 5000mAh I purchased it with).
You’re welcome, and thank you for coming back and letting us know!
Yes, any modification in high-current devices, specially ones using high-capacity Li-Ion batteries, should only be attempted with the utmost care and planning. These things are DANGEROUS and much more unstable than we could reasonably expect – besides damaging the devices they’re in, they can easily enter thermal runaway and then ignite/explode, causing injury and even burn the whole house down, as I learned from direct personal experience just the other day (fortunately no grave injuries and my house is still standing, but I’ve learned a lesson I will definitely not forget).
