I got the Sofirn HS22 for review and was able to play with it for severeral weeks. It is a very good headlamp that actually offers a substantial throw but excells in floodlight where it also gives the option to transition into a pleasant warm white. The efficient UI with a precise mode memory system makes the complexity a breeze to operate in the field.

I don’t have it on me. I can check tomorrow. Mybe I can see it behind the TIR lens. I was really surprised about the throw ability, very performant for such a tiny setup.
Some people don’t like TIR lenses, especially with throwy emitters.
I’ll tolerate a TIR lens with a floody emitter, but not with a throwy one.
As far as I can tell, a traditional reflector provides more flood and more throw when paired with a throwy emitter.
I created a thread all about it…
Ay, that TIR stuff is higher flashlight science. For the HS22 I can say that it offers very good throw which might be useful i.e. in larger caves. Mainly I use the excellent floodlight and that in warm white.
