【Sofirn IF24Pro new version】 Upgrade in 2 aspects! Is this a better UI?

Dear members of BLF, we are Sofirn Team.

After listening to some fans’ suggestions, we made some changes to the IF24Pro UI. Please watch the video for details,https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PD4pf_QVlA4 If it’s inconvenient, descriptions are as follows. Do these make a better UI? We need your help.

Old : Whatever the light is on or off in a mode, when you rotate to the next mode, the light will turn on which may ruin ones nigh vision.

New : When the main light is on, you can turn the side light on after rotating to side light mode. But if you turn the light off, the main light will be off and so is the side light even after rotating the switch. When you need the side light, you’ll need to click the switch button.

Old : When the light is on, if you rotate to lockout mode, the light will be turned off.

New : If you turn on the flashlight, rotate the switch to lockout mode, it will not be off, you have to click the button to turn it off. At this time, if you click the button again, it will not be turned on because it’s locked.

Please tell us whether the improvements make a better UI or not, your experience and advice are so significant to us, thank you!

Hi Sofirn,

I think both updates are really good. Since it is very intuitive. The rotating switch should only serve to change mode. Turn on/off the light should be done by switch button.

Much better UI!

Will it be possible to update already existing lights with the new UI? I recently got the IF24 Pro and I’d love for it to work as described here

I’ve watched the video, this is a huge upgrade and is the UI that the light should have had when it was released.

  1. Is there any way for this upgrade to be applied to existing lights?
  2. If not, is it possible to exchange the light I bought recently that has the old UI for one of the new ones?

I have to say that while the upgrade is good news for new buyers, it is disappointing for people like me who have already bought one, especially when the upgraded UI is what we asked for before the IF24 Pro was released.

1 Thank

It’s amazing to see Sofirn finally listening to their customers! When will the new batches with the new UI hit the market?

1 Thank

I thought IF24 Pro is a using 21700 battery :smiling_face_with_tear:.
Will there any plan to create this perfect light in 21700 also?

2 Thanks

Those are very good changes. I like them all. Now, what about your customers that have already purchased the Pro version with the old UI? How do we get the new UI?

And Thank You for listening to your customers so that you provide such better products. The Pro is a great light, but with these changes, it becomes a fantastic light.

Fingers crossed for 21700 with power bank function! It would be great all-arounder!

#1 is great. It is something that needed to be fixed. I think that every review or comment has mentioned that the light coming on when changing the rotary switch is a bad idea. Good job on fixing it.

#2 I am not sure that it was needed, but it can’t hurt. Actually I want the light always OFF the light turning off when I lock it out via the rotary switch.

EDIT, See below. why complicate things? Lock position, always off, buttons locked. No leaving the light on when the rotary switch is in this position.

I’ve been holding off buying the IF24Pro due to the UI.

I would definitely buy it with this new UI!

Ugh.

If this change is implemented, it will be a replay of the “one step forward, one step back” routine. Sadly, not atypical for these brands.

The engineers, or whomever came up with this, need to decide what the specific function of each position of the switch is, stick to it, and stop trying to violate the conventions that most people are accustomed to, and expect when using devices.

Is the “lockout” position meant to emulate a sort of “mute” switch, disable a keypad, buttons, or other controls?

Or is it meant to serve as an effective “off” switch, like it currently seems to, and perhaps be labeled as such instead?

Keep in mind that while flashlight enthusiasts may have the patience to decipher, and accept, these logical fallacies, the broader market of casual users and laymen will not, and these kinds of “an off-state switch that doesn’t really act like an off switch” is going to alienate them from your brand. Most of that market already finds multi-mode flashlights to be too complex.

Even for experienced users, the intent when entering a “lockout” mode is to ensure that a light is off, and won’t unintentionally turn itself on, no?

If so, why allow it to remain on, and force an additional step to actually turn it off? A “pre-lockout” lockout or two-step lock mode? How is that helpful, or desirable, in any sense?

The rotary dial was a big improvement over the single-button UI of the IF23. Please stop trying to muck it up, or inflict pain through a multitude of small cuts with illogical implementations like this.

The simplest thing would be to relabel the “lockout” position to simple “off”, and make it…an off-switch. Off means off. Everyone, of every ilk and interest, understands that.

Yes! :+1:

Just make it an off and locked position. Light OFF, buttons locked. I am going to edit my last post.

Thank you for your feedback :grinning:

Hi Sofirn,

another suggestion for an upgrade. The ring switch is all flat, could you add some kind of indentation or notch. The idea is to have a general idea where is the “main” switch in the darkness.

For example a notch where the lock icon is. So I know in the darkness the notch is lock, left of it is white light, right is throw light. Instead of turning on the light and surprised that you poiting a white light in your face.

Or put the notch in the throw light, so at least in the darkness I could know, if I turn it on, it will switch the throw light

This is a good idea.

Some kind of raised notch on the ring switch to locate the Lock position would be nice. As for customers that already bought the Pro, a 50% off coupon with proof of purchase to buy the upgraded version would be my suggestion. Thank you for asking.
