Thank you @Sofirn , for reviving the old BLF tradition of GiveAWays.

Come to think about it, maybe I should do a GiveAWay too.

I can’t believe I won! The last, and only time I was drawn a winner for something was way back in grade 8. I won a duotang with eight sheet protectors in it. I much more prefer the flashlight. Thank you Sofirn!

Congrats!
Thanks for the giveaway, Sofrin. :+1:

Nice! If the FC11 short tube fits, the Convoy 18350 short tube should fit the threads as well. And the Convoy’s 18350 tube is even shorter!

TIR has advantages and disadvantages. I’d say yes, but please make it a swappable optic if you can like a Carclo 10xxx or LediL quad. Please please!

Improve the driver first though.

What’s wrong with the driver?

The regulated output is rubbish for a quad 21700. Only like 500 Lumens. There are single LED (even from Sofirn) that are better.

@ Sofirn - Don’t try to pack a thousand functions into the lamp like the HS21. Take the H05A as a basis, add 5 High CRI LEDs 5000K and a constant power driver and three brightness levels. The perfect flood work lamp is ready.

Old comment I know, but that wasn’t a fault, that’s just the firmware on these cheap headlamps. There’s no thermal regulation, so a 30 second timed stepdown on turbo exists.

Don’t aim for Nichia. Nichia may be quite ok if you use indoors surrounded by white walls and do not care for the reddish tint … no, it is not just warmer … more like pink. And this will render it very dim outoors … even at 1.300 lm.

With Anduril you may rise the stepdown temperature to 52° C and have a whooping 90 secs of Turbo in the first attempt. Unfortunately the light does not step down but start randomly blinking and shutting down. At the third attempt in a row there are just one or two secs left befor blink and down. Even at freezing temperatures outside. Battery full of course.

For my usecase it is unusable … SAR for missing children with mantrailling dogs. In case of emergency sometimes I have to react with just the things I carry in pockets … and my dog of course :-).

Not to be taken wrong: I really love Anduril. Foremost because I can set 5 scenarios being present on very minimal clicks … being crucial also for own security when searching for children in the urkranian-russian-border area. And I would love to have a tiny and light flashlight with brightness and beamform of the Trustfire MT20 and Anduril. This might be a major market for sofirn … reaching professionals to use real EDC-lights. I always carry a small one clipped to the zipper of my jacket with a tiny aftermarket carabiner. If there is enough time and capacities while preparing for a task, my favourite torch is the SP36 Pro … absolutely reliable and configured to my liking.

If you rely on a dinky light with 18350 battery and andruil for mission critical job, you are choosing the wrong tool. Most of those light with no regulation, low efficiency driver and fancy high CRi emitters, and icing on the cake, small batteries, I regard them as toys.

2 Thanks

Trustfire MT 20 although even smaller does a very good job. especially if there is not time for preparation and gearing up. nevertheless there are still wishes left

Wow, sounds like a very good light!
Does this light have a buck driver?
Thanks for making this kind of light, I love tactical lights!

A better explanation of the “dual-stage tactile switch” operation would be appreciated. I’m not an advocate for a “strobe” mode being directly incorporated in any ‘tactical’ UI without some kind of distinct manual segregation of switch activity. Half press vs full press doesn’t really explain what the switch physically does to activate or advance the mode options. Is the switch capable of forward momentary activation, or is it reverse clicky only from both stages?

I like the rotary ring design for UI switching. Hopefully it has strong detents to prevent accidental rotation.

What method of thermal regulation is incorporated in the design, and how capable is this light to maintain the stated 1300 lumen max output for what length of time (?) would be questions I’d have for a torch being evaluated for “tactical” usage.

3 Thanks

That looks very nice! I am a big fan of tail switch tactical lights. Would love to test one!
Also how is the regulation? Please tell me it’s a buck driver…

1 Thank

Agreed regarding strobe. I’d much rather have strobe setup as a half press after full click. Setup half press from off as momentary turbo, full click to constant turbo or high, then half press from on to strobe.

2 Thanks

Looks interesting. Is that SFT25 5000K or 6500K? I’d like to see the rotary ring in some general purpose lights. Thanks for the giveaway opportunity.

1 Thank

Cool light. I really like rotary ring lights, it’s better for quick adjustments than button press ramping IMO. I’d love to swap in a red emitter for nighttime use, but I like the white LED too.
