It is a simple, low-budget offer without Anduril but still featuring ATR (active temperature control) and the usual great build quality. Mine had a slight problem with holding a constant output, developing a slight flicker at times. The light is a bit cold for my taste. The UI: Long press: Ultra Low Double Click: Turbo: Triple Click: Strobe No ramping, no mode memory on the special modes just described.
I love Sofirn product. However, I don’t understand (and don’t like) why the green on switch light only comes on once the flashlight is turned on. At that point you don’t need it to be on. You need it on to find the switch quickly in the dark when the flashlight is off and you are trying to grab it in the dark. Once you get the light turned on it is no longer dark.
Interesting that the SC31, which was released first, has it correct and you can see the slight green glow in a dark room so as to be able to find the thing.
It just indicates the general status of the battery. It is not intended as a beacon. Although I agree that a beacon light is a very cool feature I tend to not us it much in real life. There is already enough light pollution in my home and I prefer to avoid slowly discharging my flashlights for the most part.
Never had the OG SC31, but the SC31B had a beacon mode with a really smooth “breathing” effect. And what made it even nicer to me was that it was configured on a per-use basis; activate when needed, and it would reset when the light was turned on. No having to choose between on or off.
The SC18/WK03 is good value, but I’d prefer an optic with a bit more flood, and larger hot spot. Convoy’s parts are said to be a close fit, except in height, but I haven’t personally tried them.
