As stated, some people have had luck going without. I’ve also heard of people that it didn’t work out for. You won’t kill your light because of it, but it may just not communicate properly.
I do have some. Canadian shipping for a full kit is pricey though. Shipping for any “goods” is around $15. I have been able to slip just the pogo pin key in a greeting card, but then it’d be up to you to acquire a serial adapter and dupont wires (you can get them from Amazon, AliExpress, etc). Hit me with a PM if you’re interested.
Its my understanding that Anduril and PWM go hand in hand. I believe that the pwm for the SC21 is not visible, but I’m not PWM sensitive. The lowest level of the ramp is very low, I would call it firefly. It is reported to be 0.01 Lumen.
With Anduril 2, you can configure the ramp speed, which I like. I’ve gotten a SC21 with Anduril 2 on it from someone here on BLF. Shipping to Italy may be cost prohibitive? I am very happy with this light and would recommend it, especially if you want slow ramping. The ramp can be configured for 10 seconds from one end to the other, or also 2.5 seconds (standard), 5 seconds, or 7.5 seconds. My SC21 pro is set for 7.5 seconds. My TS10 is set with this speed also. I think the time for ramping assumes all 150 steps, so if you have the top of the ramp limited to something below 150, then the time is a proportionally shorter.
That’s a common misconception. Anduril doesn’t enforce PWM output, it’s just the cheapest option and most manufacturers don’t see a reason to make the lights more expensive or reducing the profit.
Correct. But honestly, even some of the fancy buck and boost Anduril drivers (eg, Hank’s and LoneOcean’s) use the PWM output, though it gets smoothed through RC filters. On the other hand, I have helped thefreeman make some DAC-based (analog signal, not PWM) drivers with Anduril. He did all of the heavy lifting, I just helped with implementing the DAC control in firmware. I’m pretty sure Mike C has also been using the DAC on some drivers. The DAC is one definite advantage of the attiny1616 (the attiny85 doesn’t have one).
Yes, keep costs down easily sell to the masses but I would pay more for get these DAC based drivers
Regarding Anduril 2 on SC21 pro I hope will be already flashed from Sofirn soon.
Being able to choose the ramp speed is beautiful.
TY
I ordered mine from the Sofirn store on Aliexpress.
I assumed it had Anduril 1, but no matter what I tried, I could not access the strobe or blinky modes. I could only get the battery check (and the battery check did not repeat). I guessed that maybe I was in Anduril 2 Simple UI, so I clicked 10H and sure enough, I now was in the Advanced UI with the strobe, blinky and other modes.
I guess you’ve interpreted the short blink as a 1 instead of a 0. There’s a difference in length. The date is probably 2022-02-08 model 0614 (sofirn-sp36-t1616). That matches a build by gchart.
