Sofirn SD06 - SFT70 - Diving Light Review

PREFACE:
I did not pay for this light. It was given to me by Sofirn in exchange for a review.

VERSION:
Sofirn SD06
MSRP: TBD

WHATS INCLUDED:
-Cardboard box with label
-External USB charger. (USB C to USB A)
-Lanyard
-Flashlight & 21700 battery

BUILD QUALITY:
-The light appears to be very solid. Hefty in the hand.
-Threads are nicely sided for durability.
-Double O-rings to provide waterproofing to the battery compartment.
-Tailcap appears to be glued. Must disassemble from the head to access the battery.
-Writing and logo prints appear sharp but lacking in quality. See photos below. Purely cosmetic.
-Driver appears to be press fit and bezel glued making it hard to open for modifications.

UI:
-UI is very simple.
-Mode memory to last used mode. (1 click to turn on)
-3 Modes that cycle from L-M-H
-Press and hold to turn off.
-Protruding spring loaded button
-Can be locked out either on or off by pressing down and rotating the switch.
-When locking the light, if you press too far down, it will activate the switch.
-Switch is very easy to locate and is fidget friendly.

LED & BEAM PROFILE:
-I am impressed with the power and reach of the SFT70 LED.
-Cool white CCT around 6000-6500K, but looks pure white.
-Concentrated beam has very good reach for the size of the light, with a medium to large sized spill to see your surroundings.
Beamshot Video with all three modes.

UNDERWATER, MODE SPACING & REGULATION:
-Flashlight was submerged into cold water to test waterproofness and regulation.
-There were no signs of water infiltration at the end of the test.
-Mode spacing is fairly even and very noticeable going from L-M-H.
-The light exhibits a automatic stepdowns. When turning the light off and back on, it resumes at the highest level but steps back down.

Mode Spacing:

Regulation from HIGH underwater:

OPPLE MEASUREMENTS:
-CCT around 6500K on High
-No PWM RISK across all three modes.
-Measurements below in the highest mode
-Low CRI

CONCLUSION:
I am not a diver so cannot comment on how this light functions in real world conditions. It appears to be very well built.
The user interface is very simple, which I prefer over complex. The button is very easy to actuate and the beam profile is very nice with lots of power and reach. The light is on the heavier side. Great for signalling and spotting something in the distance. The low colour rendering is not ideal for close up use to observe coral reefs, fish and biodiversity in full spectrum light.

PROS:
-Truly Waterproof
-Very nice beam and power out of a fairly compact light.
-Great build quality.
-21700 battery for longer runtimes.
-Automatic stepdowns to conserve battery.
-Low Sofirn price
-Simple UI and easy to find switch.
-Good mode spacing
-Mechanical locking switch
-Clean white beam

CONS:
-No moonlight level
-Low CRI
-Automated stepdowns cannot sustain high even underwater when fully cooled.
-Mode Memory only
-Possibly only offered in cool white / low CRI. (this does not apply if Sofirn/Luminus offer it in 3000K 95CRI)
