Thanks for the review! How’s it compare to the Convoy? I really liked the Convoy but I refuse to support the guy who claims patent over it, as well as Convoy themselves for supporting it.
The Sofirn looks great, but the beam seems more focused than the aforementioned. Is that the case? Not necessarily a bad thing, just curious. I’ll probably pick one up shortly.
Hi, I’m not sure about the deal with Convoy and I don’t own one of their UV lights either. Isn’t a light that I pick up often. But it should produce similar amounts of UV light @1050ma, perhaps a bit more than the Sofirn but not noticeable. I like how the SF16 has a similar price but also comes with the battery, charging port. I like the look of the S2+ more though.
The Convoy’s more of a flooder and is 1-mode, which is fine by me. It lets you “sweep” an area pretty quickly. When I was staying at a motel before/after a friend’s wedding, I swept the room and was frankly amazed at how little “organic residue” there was.
The Sofirn is throwier, and has lots more “reach”, especially at farther distances. Like in the video, you can shine through windows and see shiite light up that’s way inside.
I could’ve sworn I got the Convoy with the filter already, no? I transplanted the guts from the come-with black/charcoal host to a purple host, because I remember sticking in the ZWB2 filter as well as screwing in the pill, and the host would’ve had its own clear glass in front.
I’m not sure if I got the Convoy through Simon’s site (only did 1 order as far as I recall) or through Gearbest, so maybe what was shipped from each was different? But I do recall people saying that Simon wouldn’t sell the filter and light in the same order, let alone in the same package, but I can’t personally verify that.
Okay, I just looked it up from my records, and I got the light through Gearbest, no mention of any filter, so it might’ve come with.
