Okay, I’ve been scouring posts looking for the mcpcb dimensions in the SP10 Pro but I can’t find them anywhere. I was going to do an emitter swap, but since I don’t reflow, I was just going for a straight mounted led board. Planned on ordering some different options to arrive around the time the light(s) do.
16mm. You’ll need to cut or file a little notch in it to clear the anti-rotation pin. When you do that make sure you don’t short the conductive MCPCB layer to the base. Check that there’s no continuity between either solder point and the base of the board (before installing).
I had a feeling it was 16 mm but just wanted to make sure.
I might not be able to avoid reflowing depending on what other lights I plan on swapping the 519a into if I like this one. For now, I’ll try to keep it just a little simpler.
I like ordering parts from the convoy flashlight store on Aliexpress. You can get all the CCTs of 519a bare or mounted and there is a volume discount.
If you’re just getting into modding I suggest getting an S2+. It’s very mod-friendly. Grab a variety of 20mm TIRs to experiment with. The SP10 isn’t too difficult to start with though.
Lastly, with any emitter swap, make sure you don’t short the wires to the underside of the reflector. I usually use electrical tape or kapton tape around the base of the reflector. Keep those solder blobs low.
My recently-delivered blue SP10 Pro’s MCPCB measures 14.75mm by 1mm. Which is both less than 16mm, and also thinner than many MCPCBs seem to be (i.e. the bezel may not screw down all the way/without gaps, when a thicker MCPCB is used).
As best I can tell, the MCPCB pocket/shelf in the light is about 15.5mm. The (16.5mm) MCPCB that came from my TS10 will not fit. There are probably some “16mm” MCPCBs on the market that are actually less than 16.00mm and may fit.
Obviously, one could slightly file/grind/whatever a 16mm MCPCB to fit. You just need to be careful about shorting the current-carrying layer through the insulating layer, to the base thermal layer.
