Excellent little light with great potential!
Tell ’em to drill in the thick part between cells, not the thinnest part of the wall. 
I attach mine to my bicycle’s handle bars with studio lighting clamps lined with strips of 3M Electronics rubber pads.
Also made reflecting shields and added d-c-fix under the cover glass to smooth out the beam so as not to multiply the traffic clover pattern from the four reflectors.
5000K 90CRI makes it ideal for the road and the runtime is a few hours on a relatively high setting.
Really great flashlight.

LOL. Dumb people should not even buy such a smart flashlight. If you click 15x long, 3x short and rotate the light 2,5x it will start lecturing you about quantum physics via Morse code. Thats how smart it is…

ML, do you have a link to that d-c-fix #5? Can’t find it anywhere. 
Pin-stripe diffusing film would be great, to produce an elliptical beam which could be oriented either horizontally or vertically.

Yeah pics would be most appreciated, don’t seem to be any of the d-c-fix #5 elliptical diffuser film on that thread.
I like to use two diffusing lenses back to back to create a square or diamond shape beam for my bike lights, be great if #5 worked the same.
The 38mm lens fits into jin heng’ s JKK03 and the Astrolux MF01 but unfortunately is just a tad to small for the SP36. Well at least there isn’t too much need for it in this flashlight as the beam is pretty good on its own, no tint shift. Just that when I added on the aluminum reflecting shield it did weird things with the clover leaf, necessitating the d-c-fix. Guess if I make shields out of white plastic like I did for my MF01 then they’d be okay for the Sofirn without any diffusing film applied to the cover glass.
Just gotta wait till my next bottle of foot powder runs out.

Huh, wonder which variety d-c-fix that film is. Closest I could find is their Snow but doesn’t seem an exact match — by any chance were you using two layers?

The #5 diffuser film I sell is not made by Dc-fix . They don't make anything like this so don't bother looking for it .It's something I stumbled on years ago and add it as a sample to lots of orders I ship out .
