Sofirn SP70 Alone $50, PM for AMZ US CODE(LIMITED)

Reflector looks awful shallow, orange peel looks pretty dang robust… according to the cut-away the emitter should be just behind the second set of cooling fins, but the photo’s make it look like the emitter is just ahead of the cooling fins, shortening the reflector considerably. Time will tell I suppose.

Overall it’s a good looking light, am interested in what the beam profile looks like at some distance, not necessarily throw distance as the 70 emitter is just so fat that I don’t consider it for throw, but at 50-100 yards I’m wondering about the relationship of hot spot to spill area? Might be perfectly usable, a good general purpose beam, more along the lines of what I would actually use.

For example, I put a domed SST-40 in a Fenix TK61Vn and find it not so useful on my routine walk, the hot spot is really too tight and the spill is too dim. If I want to see a coyote at 400 yds this is fine, but seeing or finding a skunk within 250 yds is more difficult with too tight a beam. Only my perception of course, YMMV.

How thick is the lens? AR coated, 2 sides? Wondering what the diameter of the glass lens itself is. Sofirn may have done such a good overall job of this that I have to buy one anyway…. lol The specs will have to prove out pretty well to get me over them dropping the Q8 extension tubes…

There might be some confusion. When your talking about the options on the light and including a battery charger, that’s probably not the HD batteries. That’s probably including the regular non-HD cells.

You would need to order 1 light and 2 HD batteries. These are two seperate listings. No charger is involved.

The orange peel is very light. Just enough to make the beam look a bit better. I’ll try to answer some of your questions once I get a sample light to test.

You mentioned “2pcs 5000mAh 26650 batteries”.

The 5000mAh 26650 batteries are the High Discharge (HD) batteries. The regular 26650 batteries are 5500mAh.

1) Which batteries come with the flashlight “kit” ($75.59) ?
2) Any further small discount on 2+ lights (other than the discount coupons which already exist for larger overall purchases)?

Hmmm, I have no idea which batteries the 2 x 26650 are. All I did was copy & paste the 2 options avaiable on the product page.

I’m guessing these are also the HD batteries? They have the same discharge rate but now there is a second link provided in this thread and the second link identifies them as HD. The first did not.

Sofirn has three 26650 batteries. The ones in “the kit” are their older low drain 5000 or 5500 plus a charger.

HD 25A batteries are not part of “the kit”. These have to be added seperately.

Group buy price for the light only is $50. I don’t know of any other discounts.

I’m pretty sure the first link said HD in the title. I don’t see it now, though.
It might be easier to look for the 5C Discharge 25A designation plus the added button top.

Where are those links HONDARIDER, I can’t seem to find them… :person_facepalming:

Post #1614 was the link to the Sofirn Battery Store where there are more qty options, the second is the Sofirn store where there are less options on qty’s. The original link does not or did not say HD in the discription. Sure they are the same. Both are 5C 25A discharge rates.

@ cncyana …… Thank you for the links. :+1:

Talk about confusing…… :person_facepalming:

Multiple listings & prices for the same battery…. :person_facepalming:

Why do many stores on AE do that?
Why not just list an item one time at one price?

I do not understand the logic in this created mass confusion.

Thank you HONDARIDER…. :+1:

How I missed that I’ll never know… :person_facepalming: :person_facepalming: … :weary:

They are two different stores so of course the prices and shipping my differ a little. Just like on ebay. Different stores carry the same item and at different prices, etc…

I think the main confusion if that Sofirns description for the new HD battery is 5000ah instead of Something more descriptive such as 4900mah. The pictures also show it with the same black wrapper as their non-hd batteries. I don’t know if they’re going to reuse the same wrapper or if they’re going to come up with something new, maybe a different color. They need something to differentiate the HD from their regular batteries.

Followed these instructions and received forum’s offer, but now i have a problem, cannot find the PayPal pay option , as I’ve selected before (just like instructions shown) other Payment Methods - is there any way to find the PayPal option or do i need to cancel and start over again?

Your talking about Aliexpress? I’ve never seen them offer Paypal. My account is through a Visa debit card. Maybe PayPal is a new option? IDK.

I’ve used PayPal on AliExpress just some weeks ago, so it’s not about AliExpress, unless seller wouldn’t accept PayPal? I have no clue

I've seen the option for PayPal on AliExpress, but since my experience it costs extra, I just pay with my credit card.

AliExpress does have a PayPal option, I used it ’once’. But like rc said, I also found there was an extra charge; so I just use a CreditCard now.
In 4.5 years I have never had a “security issue” either.

This picture gives a better idea :

The emitter sits behind the cooling fins, no doubt.
