…and then seemingly out of nowhere, the SOFIRN SR15 appears on my radar!
If the driver is buck, shut up and take my money!
By the way, it could be an amazing tactical light with a rear switch…like the Acebeam P18…
My guess is boost, just like in TS26S
Still buying it after my YouTube review? lol. It has a buck driver so I’m expecting you to get it still
Ah! Hadn’t seen that youd done video!
Much better than wall shot show it to be, IMHO.
As I commented on YT;
As an indoor light, that would indeed be useless. As a thrower, outside, as shown for distance in the video, I honestly don’t think I’d be bothered, the petals all blend out far enough I don’t think I’d care.
I agree its ridiculous, especially from such an experienced brand in enthusiasts lights… shouldn’t have been released this way.
But given one, I’d use it and be pretty ok with it. (No, won’t buy it, but thats mainly on principle of throwers being utterly useless to me).
If they could blend the petal on the edges and make this a nice wide angle flood light, do away with the hotspot, I’d absolutely love it. Hell, a nice smooth wide angle flood from them even with the scalloped edge might be ok… but thats far afield off this topic.
As mentioned in my response, the upcoming SK40 is worth waiting for instead of this model. Almost the same size for 1100 lumens sustained over 580 on the SR15.
This is awesome cause this form factor was kind of exclusivity of the expensive side by Olight/Nitecore/Fenix .
What’s the sk40 ? Sounds interesting
