Sofirn SR20 First Impressions

Smaller than I expected… its a nice little 18350 light. The UI is easy to use. The White mode has Last Mode Memory.

The Red Mode is 620nm and can only be reached by triple clic from On in White Mode, and it comes on at the most recent output from the White Mode, and vice versa. If the Red mode output is changed, the White Mode inherits that output step.

There are 5 modes total, moon of 0.3 lm, low of 7.3 lm, med of 83 lm, hi of 230 lm, Turbo of 456 lm. Moonlight and Turbo can not be memorised. (disclaimer, my lumen measuring tool is not fully intergrated and it tends to read low at the high end)

The battery arrived at 3.88V and the button light indicates green battery status for 10 seconds when first turned on.

Tailmagnet works very well, strong enough to hold the light sideways reliably.

I tested the light in my back yard after dark and imo the throw is good, without needing to use a High output:

The carry weight with battery installed is 77 grams, which I consider LightWeight

Thanks for review!
Got mine 2 days ago - tint isn’t great, quite greenish… I hope Sofirn will release 4000K version.

Dang,

No direct to red.

No deep red.

Too bad. Why is the use of deep red so uncommon? Seems like a no-brainer if you want to appeal to the preserve night-vision crowd. That and you need to be able to go directly to red from off.

660nm LEDs can cost almost 3x more, and are not as bright, as 620m

A Dual Channel Emissar is available with 660nm. You can get to Red directly, if you set Manual Memory to Red. If you use Last Mode Memory, you have to preset the light to Red, otherwise it can come on in White first, and you have to switch to Red.

In the SR20, memory is set to the White LEDs. When I want Red without seeing white first, I turn the white light on against the palm of my hand, at moonlight output (1H) and then clic 3 times (3C)

Ah yes cost is often king. Otherwise, I think most would prefer deep red for a 2 channel white/red light.

Yeah cheap LEDs and lousy UI, how unfortunate. Maybe they’ll release a BLF version with better tint/cri, deep red, and anduril 2 UI?

The Sofirn SR20 Mini is an inexpensive little light with Low CRI Cool White LEDs, plus 620nm Red, with a simple 5 mode UI.

My Emisar D2 has all those features.
