Solarforce L2-S9 tail cap switch

Solarforce aren’t making these anymore. One of their sales reps confirmed this when I enquired. Some of you probably already knew as much. Damned shame really. Yeah, they were over-priced in my opinion, but they were also top-shelf premium tail switch bling. For those of you who don’t what I’m talking about, see Foy’s excellent Solarforce switch extravaganza thread.

I’ve spent the last few days trying to order one from several places that list them as in stock but don’t actually have any, and have single handedly caused 5 different online retailers to remove it from their listings, or update the status to “sold out”. It’s so irritating when they don’t stay on top of this sort of thing themselves, since in one case I’d already paid for it.

Anyway, just in case anyone else out there might want to pick one up before they completely disappear, I’ve found 2 places that definitely still have stock:

http://www.illuminationgear.com/304782.html - US $16.99 + $7.50 for international shipping (cheaper if you’re in the US of course)

http://www.lelong.com.my/tail-clicky-switch-assembly-l2-s9-accessory-solarforce-gadgetworld2u-K1045010-2007-01-Sale-I.htm - These guys can accept PayPal if you deal with them directly, and quoted me US $22 + $2 PP fee + $5 shipping to Australia (quite expensive, but no doubt cheaper if you’re in Malaysia)

Thanks for the PSA.

I admit I can't see spending this kind of money on a cosmetic change. I think the S11 is every bit as attractive. My SF M6 has a unique cap that seems to have the body of the S9 and the SS ring (4 prong) of the S11 and it does look damn good - one of my best looking lights.

I can relate to that. In fact it’s the very reason that I almost missed out on one. But once I realized they were being discontinued, I suddenly needed to have one. Funny that. Solarforce hosts and accessories are somewhat like collectables to me, so that factors into the psychology somewhere.
