Today I finally received my Solarforce L2p Host in grey. It is my first SOlarforce product and I was soooo much looking forward to it! I´ve ordered it from Solarforce-Flashlights as a complete host in grey- it did NOT order separate parts. First thing I noticed were the 2 different colours of the host. The middle and the head part are brownish grey, the tailcap is way less saturated and more a lighter grey.
My pics don´t show the difference that well, but you can see it veeeery clearly in real.
I´m so disappointed and don´t know what to do now. Concact Solarforce? I really want a grey L2p, no matter if it´s brownish or “grey only” but I want all parts to look the same!
If they agree, they will send you a new body, or at least a part of it.
They sent me a l2p, with quite a bit of cosmetic damage. They sent me a new one.
There is here a thread about them as a seller. Unfortunately there are quite a few incidents with these kind of things.
They might be on holidays now.
But in my case (few weeks ago) his replies were all within 24 hours.
I didn’t need to return anything, they just sent the new parts.
My tailcap was visibly touched on certain spots to get rid of some damage.
The body had awful marks at the threads near the head.
They solved it professionally.
Of course I sent them the pictures.
I´ve sent them the pictures already and offered to take better ones in case they need more. I´ve also told them I like the brownish more than the lighter grey. So if they want to send me the “missing” parts, they just need to send ma a “brown” tailcap.
What you got is not that uncommon. SolarForce [and most all the other makers] anodize in large batches. If all goes well all the parts are a close match, but not always. SolarForce should take care of the mismatch.
They´ve just sent me an email saying the pics show the colour is the same…
“For your case, and the photo we see, the colour is the same
Sometimes, you will find different, due to light in the room, make the
light parts are different
The whole batch colour treatment HA3, is the same, so see if you find
different if they are in outdoor light”
And if I don´t like it, I can send it back and they´ll give me my money. I don´t want the money for it, I want an EVEN looking L2p.
Sure, I could send it back, have my money and order another one but who guarantees me it will look even this time?
Soooo sad
What should I do now? Take more pictures? Maybe they opened the pictures with an old (first version) gameboy. Can you guys please confirm that the pics do actually show the mismatch?
I can easily see a difference as well. It sounds to me like they are balking on making things right. Take pictures outside in the sunlight since it seems it may be the only way to convince them. Maybe send them a link to this thread as well.
Yes it's ok to link to this thread. JMac is right, take the pics outdoors with good lighting and a decent camera. They are not going to see enough difference in the pics you supplied above, FWIW. My grey L2N look similar to your pictures and I don't even notice for all practical purposes, or until I really look for it. Seems to be more common with colored anodizing. This does not just happen to SolarForce, by the way. Over on CPF there's plenty of complaints of SureFire lights having the same mis-match between sections..
I agree with the above comment. You will need to take more pictures. I can’t tell the difference at all from those pictures. You even said that from the pics it’s hard to tell. You have a right to be ticked and sad but they also have a right to protect themselves as well.
I really think that more pics are needed and from their reputation I would think they will make it better.
My smartphones oled display and my calibrated pc monitor show a quite visible diffwrence, though its mire clearly in real life. il woll take new pics and post them here, too.
Ok, I finally took more pictures. I took them with camera flash, with medium light and with very little light. I think these pictures show the mismatch clearly enough.
Please let me know what you think.
